Engine Repair — Assembly Sequence (Opel Astra F)

Before starting assembly, check that you have all the necessary parts (in particular gaskets and various bolts), as well as the availability of all the necessary tools. Check out the sequence of upcoming operations.

To save time and avoid some problems, it is recommended to assemble the engine in the following order:

• Piston rings.
• Crankshaft and main bearings.
• Piston/connecting rod assembly.
• Oil pump.
• Oil pan.
• Cylinder head, valve lifters, camshaft and rocker arm components.
• Timing belt and sprockets.
• Flywheel/drive disc.
• External engine components.
