The brake system of the Frontera has been completely redesigned since mid-1995. As a result, the description of the braking system is divided into two parts.
The front wheels of the car have disc brakes. The bracket is formed by a caliper and a wheel cylinder. Construction details are described below.
Since mid-1995, the Frontera has been equipped with rear-wheel disc brakes. The anti-blocking system is an additional complete set. The front discs have been enlarged to a diameter of 280 mm. The discs are 26 mm thick.
The rear wheels of the car until the middle of 1995 were equipped with drum brakes, after the specified period with disc brakes taken from the Monterey car, also manufactured by Opel. Disc diameter 313 mm, thickness 18 mm. The parking brake pads are located on the inside of the rear discs.
The brake system contains a vacuum booster located between the brake pedal and the master brake cylinder. Discharge is taken from the engine. The combination of a brake master cylinder with a vacuum booster was introduced following a redesign of the brake system. The main brake cylinder and vacuum booster are not subject to repair and, if damaged, are replaced.
