The manual mechanism is of the mechanical type, works only on the rear wheels and is operated by a lever mounted on the floor.
Hydraulic pressure control valves are screwed into the master cylinder to prevent the rear wheels from locking up during heavy braking. These valves cannot be adjusted.
Individual brake system components can come from one of two manufacturers - GMF or ATE.
The system has built-in switches and lights that warn when the handbrake is applied and when the fluid level is low.
Working with the brake system must be careful and methodical. Scrupulous cleanliness must be observed when working with the hydraulic system. Replacement parts must be from the manufacturer or at least they must be of a reputable manufacturer and of good quality.
Warning: Hazards when working with the brake system. Some brake friction materials still contain asbestos. Therefore, assume that any brake powder is potentially dangerous; Avoid inhaling it and do not spray it into the air. Also note that brake fluid is toxic and will attack paint. Do not overfill it by putting the tube in your mouth, rinse thoroughly upon contact with skin, and wash it off painted surfaces immediately.
