Schedule of current maintenance (Opel Corsa B)

The intervals for routine vehicle maintenance specified in this Section are designed for the independent performance of all necessary procedures by the vehicle owner. The duration of the intervals was determined based on the assumption that the vehicle is used on a daily basis. In order to constantly maintain the vehicle in peak condition, some of the procedures may be performed more frequently at the owner's request. The authors of this Manual are confident that maximum efficiency from the vehicle's power unit and other components and systems can only be achieved if the owner takes a conscientious attitude to the care of his vehicle. One should also not forget about the need to maintain the marketable appearance of the vehicle in case of its resale.

When operating the vehicle in very dusty areas, intense urban traffic (frequent short trips), as well as when frequently towing a trailer, the intervals for performing routine maintenance procedures should be reduced to a minimum if possible. Maintenance of a new vehicle, in order to avoid violation of the manufacturer's warranty obligations, should be performed at an authorized Opel service station.

Every 12 months or 15,000 km (whichever comes first)

On cars produced since 09.1994 with 1.5 l (50 hp) and 1.7 l (60 hp) diesel engines, oil change should be performed every 12 months or 15,000 km (whichever comes first). On other models with a diesel engine, the oil change should be done every 12 months or 7,500 km (whichever comes first) as part of technical maintenance.

• Check the engine, manual transmission and differential for leaks (see section Checking fluid levels).
• Replace the engine oil and oil filter (see section Changing engine oil and oil filter).
• Remove water from the fuel filter diesel engine models up to 08.1997. (See Section Removal sediment from a diesel engine fuel filter).
• Check and adjust idle speed and maximum speed diesel engine models up to 08.1997. (See Section Checking and adjusting the speed).
• Check the tension and condition of the drive belt (see section Checking the condition and replacing the auxiliary drive belt).
• Check the coolant level and the concentration of antifreeze in it, check the radiator for leaks and contamination (see sections Checking fluid levels and Checking the status of components).
• Check and charge the battery (see section Checking, servicing and charging).
• Check the exhaust system for damage (see section Checking the exhaust system).
• Check the A/C compressor for leaks (see section Checking and maintenance).
• Replace the air filter models up to 08.1995. (See Section Replacing the filter element).
• Check the condition of the anti-corrosion coating of the body and underbody (see section Monitoring the condition of the anti-corrosion coating of the car body and underbody).
• Check the functionality of electrical equipment (see section Checking electrical equipment).
• Check and adjust the headlights if necessary (see Chapter On-board electrical equipment).
• Check the wear of the wiper blades (see section Checking the condition and replacing the brushes).
• Check the operation of the windshield washer, the position of the nozzles and the fluid level (see section Checking fluid levels).
• Replace the remote control battery models up to 08.1995. (See Chapter *Controls and operating techniques).
• Check the thickness of the brake pads of disc brakes (see section Checking the brake system).
• Check for leaks in the brake master cylinder, brake system lines and hoses, check the brake fluid level (see sections Checking fluid levels and Checking the condition and replacing the hoses located in the engine compartment).
• Check tire wear and inflation pressure (see section Checking the condition of the tires and their inflation pressure, rotating the wheels).
• Check the tightening torque of the wheel mounting bolts (see Vehicle settings and routine maintenance).
• Check and, if necessary, adjust the pressure regulator valve in the hydraulic circuits of the rear wheel brake mechanisms (see section Checking the brake system).
• Check the travel of the parking brake lever (see section Checking the brake system).

Every 24 months or 30,000 km (whichever comes first)

• Remove water from the fuel filter diesel engine models from 09.1997. (See Section Removal sediment from a diesel engine fuel filter).
• Check and adjust valve clearances on a diesel engine (see section Checking and adjusting valve clearances on a diesel engine).
• Check the fuel system for leaks (see section Checking the condition and replacing the hoses located in the engine compartment).
• Lubricate the throttle cable (see Chapter Fuel, exhaust and emission control systems).
• Replace the fuel filter of diesel and gasoline engines until 08.1998 issue. (See Section Replacing the fuel filter)
• Replace the air filter models from 09.1995. (See Section Replacing the filter element)
• Replace spark plugs gasoline engines produced before 08.1995. (except DOHC engines) (See Section Replacing spark plugs).
• Check the clutch pedal adjustment (see section Checking the clutch pedal adjustment).
• Check the composition of the exhaust gases (see section Checking the composition of exhaust gases).
• Replace the remote control battery models since 09.1995. (see Chapter Controls and operating techniques).
• Check the condition of the drive shaft protective boots (see section Inspection of suspension components).
• Check the ATF level (see section Checking fluid levels).
• Check the front suspension components and steering rods for damage (see section Inspection of suspension components).
• Check the clearances and fastening of the steering rod ends and the condition of their boots (see section Inspection of suspension components).
• Check the condition of the ball joint boots (see section Inspection of suspension components).
• Check the steering rod end boots for damage and grease leaks (see section Inspection of suspension components).
• Check the power steering fluid level (see section Checking fluid levels).
• Check the rear suspension springs and shock absorbers for signs of oil leaks (see section Inspection of suspension components).
• Lubricate the door stoppers and hinges, as well as the hood lock (see section Lubrication of locks, hinges and stops).
• Check seat belts for damage.
• Check the thickness of the brake linings of drum brakes (see section Checking the brake system).
• Replace brake fluid (every 24 months, regardless of the mileage) (See Section Replacing brake fluid).

Every 36 months or 45,000 km (whichever comes first)

• Replace ATF on models with a 90 hp engine. (See Section ATF Replacement).

Every 48 months or 60,000 km (whichever comes first)

• Replace spark plugs on DOHC petrol engines, as well as on all engines since 09.1995. (See Section Replacing spark plugs).
• Replace the timing belt on gasoline engines produced before 08.1997. (See Chapter Engines).
• Replace the fuel filter on petrol engines since 09.1998. (see section Replacing the fuel filter).

Every 72 months or 90,000 km (whichever comes first)

• Replace the timing belt and check the condition of the tension roller on petrol engines since 09.1998. (see Chapter Engines).

Every 96 months or 120,000 km (whichever comes first)

• Replace the timing belt on petrol engines from 09.1997 to 08.1998. (see Chapter Engines).
• Replace the timing belt on diesel engines and adjust the timing and injection pump (see Chapter Engines).
