Before performing any maintenance on the fuel filter, thoroughly wipe the area around the filter to prevent dirt from entering the fuel system. To collect any spilled fuel, place a rag under the filter or install a suitable drain container.
Do not allow diesel fuel to come into contact with the surfaces of the generator, starter, cooling system hoses, engine mounts and electrical wiring harnesses!
The fuel filter is installed in the front left corner of the engine compartment, next to the power steering reservoir.
1. Release the drain hose from the holder and direct it downwards.

2. Place a container under the hose to collect water.
3. Loosen the valve at the bottom of the filter and allow the fuel to flow into the prepared container. Do not close the valve until clean fuel starts flowing out of the hose - usually about 100 ml is enough.
To allow fuel to flow more freely, loosen the bleed screw located at the top of the filter cover.
4. Carefully tighten the valve, remove the hose from it and remove the drain container. Use a clean rag to collect traces of spilled fuel. If necessary, carefully tighten the top screw of the cap.
5. Finally, carefully collect any spilled fuel and check all loose components for signs of developing leaks.
6. Start the engine and bleed the fuel system (see Chapter Fuel, exhaust and emission control systems).
