Removal and installation the foot brake pedal assembly (Opel Vectra C)

Note: This operation is quite complicated, as the entire instrument panel must be removed to remove the pedal assembly. It is recommended that this operation be performed by specialists from an Opel service station.


1. Remove the 2 brake booster mounting bolts (see accompanying illustration).

2. Remove the instrument panel (see Chapter 11), steering shaft housing assembly, steering column intermediate shaft.

3. Remove the brake light switch sensor, and on vehicles equipped with a manual transmission and cruise control, you will also need to remove the sensor from the clutch pedal.

4. Unlock the clutch master cylinder rod using special tools (see Chapter 6) and separate it from the pedal.

5. Remove the retaining clip, separate the brake pedal return spring and remove the brake master cylinder rod mounting pin from the brake pedal (see accompanying illustration).

6. Loosen the 3 mounting nuts and remove the pedal assembly. On models equipped with a manual transmission, disconnect the clutch pedal retainer.

7. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. After installing all components, check that the position of the steering wheel coincides with the straight-ahead direction of wheel movement.
