Removal
Set the front wheels to the straight-ahead position.
Remove the driver's airbag (1) (see the relevant chapter).

Loosen the steering wheel mounting nut. Place alignment marks on the end of the steering shaft and the steering wheel.
Remove the steering wheel using the KM-210-V puller.
Warning! Do not hit the steering wheel, as this may damage the steering column safety mechanism.
Remove the screws and steering column covers.

Disconnect the connectors, remove the screws and remove the steering column switches and the security system coil wire.

Warnings:
- Store the removed driver airbag coil wire in a clean, dry place.
- Do not rotate the center portion of the coiled wire.
Installation
Warning: If the timing marks on the coil wire are not properly aligned, the steering wheel will not be able to be turned fully or the coil wire will be broken, resulting in the driver's airbag not functioning properly.
If the center portion of the spiral wire is not set to the center position, set it as follows. Turn the central part of the spiral wire clockwise until it stops, then turn the central part of the spiral wire 2.5 turns counterclockwise, while the marks on the body and the central part of the spiral wire should align.

Make sure the front wheels are in the straight ahead position.
Install the steering column paddle shifters and the security system coil wire onto the steering column and secure with screws.
Connect the connectors to the steering column switches and the security system coil wire.

Note: When installing a new coiled wire, remove the shipping cap from the wire.
Install the steering column covers.

Align the previously applied marks and install the steering wheel onto the steering column shaft.
Secure the steering wheel with the nut, tightening it to a torque of 34 Nm.
Install the driver's airbag (1) (see the relevant chapter).

Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
