Driver's airbag (Opel Frontera B)

Warning: Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 1 minute for the storage capacitor to fully discharge. Otherwise, the airbag may deploy unexpectedly, which may result in injury.


Removal



Set the front wheels to the straight-ahead position.

On the back of the steering wheel, remove the 2 airbag mounting screws.

On the back of the steering wheel, remove the 2 airbag mounting screws.


Disconnect the connector and remove the airbag.

Warnings:
  • Do not expose the airbag to temperatures above 93°C.
  • Store the removed airbag in a clean, dry place, face up. Do not place any objects on the airbag as they may cause serious injury when the airbag deploys.
  • Never disassemble or repair the airbag module.
  • Never attempt to measure the resistance of the airbag module (charge) circuit, even with a special tester. If the resistance is measured by a tester, the airbag may suddenly deploy, which is very dangerous.
  • Do not drop the air bag module or allow it to come into contact with water, grease, etc. If dents, cracks, deformation, or corrosion are found, replace the module.
  • After the airbag has deployed, replace it and the coil wire. When removing a deployed airbag, wear protective gloves and safety glasses.
  • The unopened airbag module should be disposed of only in accordance with local regulations.





Installation



Make sure the front wheels are in the straight ahead position.

Connect the connector to the airbag.

Install the airbag on the steering wheel and secure it with 2 screws (1 and 2), tightening them to a torque of 9 Nm.

Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
