Engine assembly (Opel Frontera A)

Engine assembly is described in the relevant sections. When assembling the engine, the following general instructions must be observed.

1. Before assembly, check that the parts are free of dirt and foreign particles.

2. All moving parts must be coated with a thin layer of lubricant. This should be done before assembly, not after assembly, as this may prevent the oil from reaching the rubbing surfaces. It is especially important to generously lubricate the pistons, piston rings and cylinder walls with engine oil.

3. Thoroughly clean all parts of the cylinder block if the engine has been completely disassembled. When partially disassembling, ensure that no foreign particles enter the unremoved engine parts or hollow spaces. Seal all holes or cover them with rags.

4. It is best to blow out oil channels and holes with compressed air. If there is no compressed air, close the channels and holes with wooden plugs, never metal ones. Always replace O-rings and gaskets with new ones. In no case, for the sake of economy, do not use old sealing elements.

5. IN Specifications the wear limit values for most moving parts are given. If there is any doubt about any part or its wear is close to the limit, it is better to immediately replace the part with a new one.

6. All spare parts must be purchased from Opel dealerships. The engine number must be specified. Since engine design is constantly changing, only an Opel representative can guarantee you the correct spare part.
