Attention: work must be carried out in compliance with fire safety measures.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Siphon the fuel from the tank into a clean metal container that can be tightly closed. Alternatively, while working under the machine, disconnect the fuel line from the tank and drain the fuel into a suitable container.
2. Disconnect the wiring from the sensor terminals. On later models, also disconnect the fuel line leading to the pump (see photo). Clamp the hoses to prevent fuel from leaking out.

3. To remove the sensor, either insert the lever between two of the ledges on the sensor and turn it counterclockwise to release it from its mounts, or unscrew the bolts securing the sensor (depending on design).

4. Carefully remove the sensor, being careful not to bend the float arm.
5. Remove the O-ring.
6. Install the sensor in the reverse order. Check that the O-ring is in good condition and seated correctly.
