Removing
Single overhead cam models
1. Remove the fuel tank (guided by Chapter 16), if it is needed. Note that only one hose is associated with the sensor. It must also be disconnected from the connection inside the unit, and only then the sensor unit can be completely removed from the tank (see illustration).
Models with double overhead camshafts
2. Remove the fuel tank as described in Chapter 16.
3. Make alignment marks on the sensor and fuel tank so that the sensor can be installed in its original position.
4. To remove the sensor, you need to prepare a tool to install it in the slot in the sensor retaining ring. For this purpose, it is recommended to use a special tool Opel KM-673 (see illustration).
5. Carefully remove the block so as not to bend the float arm.
6. Remove the O-ring.
Installation
7. Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following.
8. Replace O-ring.
9. Align the labels made on the gauge and a fuel tank before removal.
10. Install the fuel tank (Chapter 16).
