2. With the help of an assistant, unscrew the hinges from the cover and remove the cover from the vehicle.
3. The hinges themselves are usually not removed, but if they need to be replaced, you will need to release and remove the counterweight springs.
4. Disconnect them using a lever long enough to overcome the spring tension.
5. If the hinges are disconnected from the body, do not forget to install new washers when reinstalling them to prevent water from entering the luggage compartment.
