Note: Repair work is not included in the maintenance, their implementation is a separate operation. Until recently, the maintenance system for almost all cars was of a preventive nature - maintenance was carried out at certain intervals of mileage or vehicle operation time (at low intensity of car use) regardless of the actual state of the engine and other systems.
Currently, in order to reduce maintenance costs, many passenger car models from various manufacturers (including and Vectra-C/Signum) equipped with an active system (see below) warnings about the timing of scheduled maintenance, with diagnostic elements. The control device of this system processes information received from various sensors, and automatically, depending on the mileage traveled, the time elapsed since the previous maintenance, and also depending on the actual state of the engine systems, displays a corresponding message in the service display field (see below). With this configuration, the car must be provided for maintenance work: gasoline models - every 30000 km, diesel models - through 50000 km mileage or once a 2 years whichever comes first.
For some Vectra models that are not equipped with an active warning system, scheduled maintenance is performed at shorter mileage intervals or 1 time per year (what comes first) - detailed information must be provided when selling the car, if necessary, contact the Opel service station. Maintenance records are entered in «Service book».
Note: Maintenance can also be carried out at shorter intervals if, in agreement with the Opel workshop representatives, a cheaper one is poured into the engine (the worst quality) engine oil or vehicle used in severe operating conditions (see below).
Attention! Maintenance of a new vehicle, in order to avoid violating factory warranty obligations, should be carried out only at a branded service station of the car manufacturer!
When operating a car in a very dusty area, a busy urban cycle (frequent short trips), as well as with frequent towing of a trailer, the intervals between the performance of maintenance procedures should be reduced. Timely passage of scheduled maintenance ensures the fulfillment of warranty obligations by the company. For more information about the warranty obligations that apply to your car, and the procedure for their implementation, you can find out from Opel representatives. In addition, when reselling, the presence of marks on timely maintenance increases the value of the car - do not forget also about the need to maintain the presentation of the car.
IN «service book» and also in this Section of this Manual is a list of works on scheduled maintenance (see below), so that the owner has the opportunity to check the completeness of their implementation. Refer to the list to get acquainted with the frequency of scheduled maintenance and timely provide the car to the service station for it.
Remember that the specialists of official Opel dealers know your car best of all. If your car needs maintenance or repair, or you have any questions, you will receive any information at the service stations. It is the most reliable and ultimately the most economical way to solve all vehicle-related problems.
Active warning system about the timing of scheduled maintenance
With the corresponding version, the intervals until the next maintenance are calculated depending on the operating mode, taking into account the following factors: mileage traveled, engine speed, engine torque, driving cycles, coolant and engine oil temperatures. If the mileage remaining until the next MOT is less than 1500 km, each time the ignition is switched on, the corresponding icon will be displayed in the field of the service indication display for several seconds with indications of the remaining mileage «1000». With a remaining mileage of less than 1000 km the pictogram will be displayed for a longer time - it is necessary for one week or 500 km run to perform the work of the next MOT. Timely provide the car to the service station. The remaining mileage until the next service can be displayed on the service indication display, for which, with the ignition off, you must press the reset odometer button (see chapter «Controls and methods of operation», Section 16) in the lower right part of the instrument cluster - the display field will show the number of kilometers remaining until the next maintenance, for example «10000».
Note: The system does not take into account the downtime of the car with the battery disconnected when calculating the time for the next scheduled maintenance and should be taken into account when displaying warning messages.
After performing maintenance work, the counter must be reset. When performing work at Opel branded service stations, the station specialists reset the system readings. If necessary (if the service was performed on the terms of the branded service station) the reset can be done by the car owner himself:
- Turn off the ignition, the key must remain in the ignition (position «ABOUT») - at the same time, the readings of the resettable mileage counter will be displayed on the instrument cluster;
- Press and hold the meter reset button;
- Turn on the ignition and continue to hold the button until the meter readings change - after about 10 seconds, the indication of the maximum mileage until the next maintenance will be displayed («InSP 34000 km» for petrol models «InSP 50000 km» for diesel models), and after another 2 seconds the indication will be reset - the indication will appear in the display field «- - -».
When the resettable trip meter button is released, a new reading is automatically entered into the system's memory, while the counter for the time until the next maintenance will be set to 24 months, and the counter for the interval until the engine oil change is set to 100%.
Note: If the system display was reset by accident, you should contact Opel's workshop specialists to restore the original data.
Maintenance work
Note: Visual inspection is carried out without dismantling the equipment and lining. If leaks or excessive consumption of operating fluids are detected (fuels, oils, etc.) subsequent work is carried out in agreement with the owner of the car.
During routine maintenance between scheduled maintenance, the car owner is advised to check the air pressure in the tires, the level of engine oil and coolant, washer fluid for cleaning windows, etc. at least 1 time per month - making adjustments as needed.
Note: When operating the vehicle in countries where fuel is used that does not meet European standards (EN 228 for gasoline or EN 590 for diesel), more frequent maintenance of filters and some other elements of the top-willow, lubrication, ignition systems and a reduction in the intervals between scheduled maintenance and oil changes may be required.

Reset the meter reading of the active scheduled maintenance warning system.
Additional maintenance work
Additional work is work that is performed as part of maintenance. They are not performed at every service. The labor costs of additional work are not taken into account in the volume of scheduled maintenance and are included in the bill separately. Despite this, it is recommended to entrust the performance of these works to the specialists of an authorized dealer during the next maintenance, since their labor intensity in this case will be lower than when performed separately.
If necessary (at the request of the owner) as part of additional maintenance, the following parts and operating fluids can be replaced without waiting for the next maintenance:
- Filter for ventilation, heating and A/C systems (especially in countries with a hot climate and for medical reasons for people with allergies);
- Air cleaner filter element;
- Fuel filter;
- Toothed belt and tension roller;
- Brake fluid;
- Brake pads;
- Engine oil.
Note: On models equipped with an active scheduled maintenance warning system, the condition of the engine oil is monitored. When operating a vehicle in difficult conditions (see below) in case of deterioration of properties / lowering of the level of impellent oil, the system will issue a warning message - it is necessary to change / adjust the oil level, regardless of the time for the next MOT.
In addition, on models equipped with AT, an additional replacement of the working fluid is carried out (oils) in the case of constant use of the vehicle with a heavy load and / or with a trailer.
Tires are replaced as the tread wears out. However, tire operation longer than 4 years from the date of manufacture is unacceptable, regardless of the degree of wear - when buying and installing tires, check the date of manufacture (applied to the sidewall of the tire).
Every 2 years, regardless of mileage
Check the remote control, replace the battery (don't forget the spare key!).
Change brake fluid.

Severe operating conditions
Severe driving conditions refers to the operation of the vehicle with frequent repetition of one or more of the following operations or under the corresponding conditions:
- Starting a cold engine;
- Frequent starting and stopping;
- Trailer towing;
- Movement in mountainous/hilly terrain;
- Driving on roads with poor surface quality;
- Severe air pollution;
- Large dust content of the air and the presence of sand in it;
- Frequent use of the circulation mode;
- Vehicle operation in high altitude conditions;
- Large temperature fluctuations.
Severe operating conditions for the brake system:
- Frequent braking when driving at high speeds;
- Braking of the most loaded car;
- Functioning on models equipped with AT;
- Movement in mountainous terrain;
- Driving on roads covered with water, snow, mud and dust. In addition, for diesel models equipped with a particulate filter (DPF), severe operating conditions is the movement in the conditions of the urban cycle. This requires more frequent regeneration of the DPF and shorter engine oil change intervals.
