Fuel injector (Multec system) — check (Opel Vectra A)

1. If you have a multimeter with sufficient sensitivity, you can check the resistance of the injector winding. First, disconnect the injector wiring as described in Chapter 29, then attach the meter (set to resistance measurement mode) to the injector terminals and measure the resistance

2. On C18NZ engines the reading should be within the permissible limits specified in the Specifications; similar results should be expected on the C16NZ, C16NZ2, and X16SZ engines.

3. If the readings differ significantly from the specified value, or if there is a short circuit or open circuit in the winding, the injector must be replaced.

4. Please note that this is only a test of the electrical conductivity of the injector winding; spray pattern or performance are not tested here. If you suspect a nozzle is faulty, it is always worth trying a known good one instead. If this does not work, you should contact your Opel dealer for a full check on special testing equipment.
