1. If there is a multimeter of sufficient sensitivity, it is possible to check the resistance of the injector winding. First, disconnect the injector wiring as described in Chapter 29, then attach the meter (set to resistance measurement mode) to the injector clamps, and measure the resistance
2. On C18NZ engines, the reading must be within the allowable limits specified in the Specifications; similar results should be expected on the C16NZ, C16NZ2, and X16SZ engines.
3. If the readings are noticeably different from the specified value, or if there is a short circuit or open circuit, the nozzle must be replaced.
4. Please note that this is only a test of the electrical conductivity of the injector winding; spray pattern or performance is not tested here. If an injector is suspected to be defective, it is always worth trying a known-good injector instead. If this also does not work, you must contact your Opel dealer for a complete check on special test equipment.
