Removal
Remove the rear timing belt cover (see the relevant chapter).
Remove the oil pan (see the relevant chapter).
Remove the oil pan support from the cylinder block.
Disconnect the oil pick-up pipe (1) from the oil pump and balance shaft block.

Remove the heat exchanger (see the relevant chapter).
Disconnect the connector from the engine oil pressure sensor.
Remove the oil pump (2) and oil seal from the cylinder block.

Remove the plug (arrow) of the safety valve from the oil pump, then remove the sealing ring (3), spring (2) and piston (1), while marking the installation position of the piston.

Clean the mating surfaces of the oil pump from any gasket residue.
Checking the safety valve
Visually inspect the safety valve components for wear or damage.
Check the sliding surface of the safety valve plunger and spring.
Lubricate the plunger of the relief valve with engine oil, insert it into place and make sure that it descends smoothly under its own weight. Otherwise, replace the relief valve plunger.
Installation
Install the piston (1), spring (2), new sealing ring (3) and screw the plug (4) of the safety valve into the oil pump housing and tighten the plug to a torque of 30 Nm.
Install the oil pump with a new gasket on the cylinder block and secure with bolts, tightening them to a torque of 6 N·m.
Lubricate the working lips of the new oil seal with clean engine oil and install it on the end of the shaft. Using the special tool KM-693 (1) and the pulley mounting bolt, press the seal into place, being careful not to damage its working edges when installing the seal. Keep in mind that the working lips of the seal must be directed inward.

Connect the connector to the engine oil pressure sensor.
Install the heat exchanger (see the relevant chapter).
Install the oil pickup tube with a new sealing ring on the oil pump and secure with bolts, tightening them to a torque of 8 N·m. Apply a locking compound to the threads of the bolts before screwing them in.
Install the oil pan support onto the cylinder block and secure with bolts, tightening them to a torque of 20 Nm.
Install the oil pan (see the relevant chapter).
Install the rear timing belt cover for the gas distribution mechanism (see the relevant chapter).
