Lubrication system (Opel Frontera B)

Contents: General information ⬇ Recommended precautions ⬇

General information

Lubrication system of mixed type under pressure and splash, full-flow. The engine is lubricated under pressure created by a pump driven by the crankshaft. The oil is sucked in by the oil pump through the mesh filter and the oil intake pipe, then passes under pressure through the full-flow oil filter and enters the rubbing surfaces of the engine. The crankshaft has holes drilled through which oil is supplied from the main bearings to the crankshaft connecting rod journals.

Warning: Long-term skin contact with mineral oil will strip away the natural oils from human skin, causing dryness, irritation and dermatitis. In addition, used motor oil contains potentially harmful substances that can cause skin cancer. Therefore, it is necessary to take measures to protect the skin and use appropriate cleaning agents.

Recommended precautions

The most effective precaution is to use work methods that virtually eliminate skin contact with mineral oil. For example, the use of closed systems for collecting waste oil, washing machines for cleaning parts from oil and grease before starting work.

Other security measures.

  • Avoid prolonged skin contact with oils, especially used motor oils.
  • Wear protective clothing and impervious gloves.
  • Avoid contamination of clothing, especially underwear, with oil.
  • Do not put oily rags in your pockets. Using overalls without pockets will prevent this.
  • Do not wear contaminated or oily work clothes and shoes. Work clothes should be cleaned regularly and stored separately from personal clothes.
  • Where there is a possibility of oil getting into the eyes, protective glasses should be worn.
  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water. After washing, it is recommended to apply lanolin cream to your hands to restore the skin's fatty layer.
  • It is prohibited to use gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel, diesel oil, solvents and thinners to clean your hands.
  • Before starting work, to facilitate the removal of oil from your hands after work, use protective creams.
  • If any skin diseases appear, consult a doctor immediately.
