Starter for engines X 22 SE and Y 22 SE (Opel Frontera B)

Removal



Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.

Remove the lower engine compartment protection.

Drain the coolant from the engine cooling system.

Disconnect the coolant hoses from the coolant distribution manifold.

Remove 4 bolts and coolant manifold.

Remove 4 bolts and coolant manifold.


Disconnect the starter from the gearbox housing and, without disconnecting the wires, secure it to the cylinder block.

Unscrew the nuts (1 and 2), disconnect the wires from the starter and remove the starter.

Unscrew the nuts (1 and 2), disconnect the wires from the starter and remove the starter.


Installation



Connect the wires to the starter and secure them with nuts.

Install the starter on the gearbox housing and secure with bolts, tightening them to a torque of 38 N·m.

Install the cooling system manifold.



Connect the cooling system hoses to the cooling system distribution manifold.

Fill the engine cooling system with coolant, bleed the cooling system and check the cooling system for leaks (see the relevant chapter).

Install the lower engine compartment protection.

Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
