Control indicators

Charge indicator lamp (4)

Lights up when the ignition is turned on, should go out after the engine starts

If it lights up while driving, stop the vehicle and turn off the engine. The battery is discharged. Check the condition of the alternator drive belt. A broken or slipping belt will cause the water pump to malfunction (and brake system vacuum pump on diesel models). If the belt is OK, please contact your Opel service centre for advice.

Fuel consumption indicator lamp (5)

Lights up when the fuel consumption meter needle enters the red zone of the indicator scale. May light up slightly earlier when turning.

Attention! Try not to allow the fuel tank to run out completely!

Anti-lock brake system indicator light (if such is provided) (6)

Lights up when the ignition is turned on and remains lit for the duration of the ABS system self-diagnosis.

If it does not turn off after a few seconds, or lights up while driving, then there is a failure in the system. At the same time, the braking system continues to function properly in normal mode, but during sudden braking the car may skid - adjust your driving style accordingly. The ABS system is equipped with a built-in self-diagnostic unit - to read the fault codes, contact an Opel service center.

Oil pressure warning light (7)

Lights up when the ignition is turned on and should go out when the engine speed increases after starting.



If it lights up while driving, turn off the engine immediately. It is possible that the oil supply to lubricate the internal components of the engine may be disrupted, which could lead to the engine jamming and unexpected locking of the drive wheels. Depress the clutch pedal, move the manual transmission control lever to neutral, and turn off the engine.

Warning! To avoid locking the steering wheel, do not remove the key from the ignition until the car has completely stopped! Check the engine oil level in the engine. If necessary, please contact your Opel service centre for advice.

Hazard warning light (8)

Starts flashing when the hazard warning lights are turned on

Trailer direction indicator lamp (with the appropriate vehicle configuration) (9)

Starts flashing in sync with the trailer direction indicators. Does not function if one or more direction indicator lamps of the vehicle/trailer fail.

Left turn signal indicator lamp (10)

Starts flashing synchronously with the vehicle's direction indicators when the latter are turned on. An increase in the blinking frequency indicates that the indicator lamp is faulty.

Right turn signal indicator lamp (11)

Starts flashing synchronously with the vehicle's direction indicators when the latter are turned on. An increase in the blinking frequency indicates that the indicator lamp is faulty.

High beam indicator lamp (12)

Lights up when the high beam headlights are turned on, as well as during the flashing of the latter.

Pre-glow control lamp (diesel models) (13)

Lights up when the diesel engine preheating system is operating.

Electronic Engine Management System Warning Light (14)

Lights up when the ignition is turned on. On diesel models it should go out after about 3 seconds. On petrol models it remains on until the engine starts, after which it should go out.

If it turns on while the vehicle is moving, it indicates electronic failure. At the same time engine management system automatically switches to emergency operation mode, ensuring the ability to continue operating the vehicle despite increased fuel consumption and reduced engine efficiency. Take the vehicle to an Opel service center for inspection and necessary repairs. Short-term lamp illumination can be ignored.

Try to refrain from using the car until the cause of the failure is eliminated engine management systems, as this may lead to failure of the catalytic converter.

Brake system warning light (15)

Lights up when the ignition is turned on if the parking brake is engaged.

If it remains lit after the parking brake has been released, then the brake fluid level has dropped, or (on diesel models) reducing the vacuum depth of the brake booster.

Note: Frequent use of the foot brake on diesel models may cause a temporary reduction in vacuum depth and illumination of the indicator lamp (15).

Stop the car carefully, remembering that the braking distance may increase somewhat, and the foot brake pedal should be pressed with greater force.

Warning! Further operation of the vehicle with the lamp (15) on is dangerous! Consult an Opel service center.

All-wheel drive mode indicator lamp (16)

Lights up when the transfer case control lever is moved to the "4H" or "4L" position.

Airbag warning light (17)

Should flash seven times when the ignition is turned on, then go out. Otherwise, there is a malfunction in the driver/front passenger restraint system that will prevent the airbag from deploying in the event of an accident. Please contact your Opel service centre for advice.

Electronic clock

The digital chronometer continues to function regardless of the position of the ignition switch.

The time is set by pressing the buttons located under the clock display:

• H = Pressing this button quickly switches the clock setting
• M = Pressing this button switches the minute setting

Tachometer

The tachometer indicator is located on the left side of the instrument cluster in the dashboard. Correct use of tachometer readings helps to significantly reduce fuel consumption. The value of one division of the indicator scale is 500 rpm.

Black area of the scale: Normal operating range of engine speed - try to keep the engine speed in any gear in the middle of the operating range of the scale (approximately between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm) avoid sudden changes in engine speed.

Red zone of the scale: The area of overspeeding - prolonged maintenance of the engine speed in this range of the indicator scale is fraught with failure of the power unit.

Speedometer

The speedometer occupies a central position in the instrument cluster and shows the current speed of the vehicle. Inside the speedometer are indicators for the total and mileage of the vehicle (odometer) and the mileage counter for a specific trip. The latter is reset by pressing the reset button.

Voltmeter

The voltmeter is located in the lower right corner of the instrument cluster control indicator field. The range of readings of the voltmeter pointer indicator is between 8 and 16 V.

When starting the engine, the indicator needle should not fall below 10 V, while driving the minimum reading should not fall below 12 V. If necessary, contact the Opel service center for advice.

Oil pressure gauge

The pointer indicator of the meter is located in the lower right corner of the control pointer field of the instrument cluster. The indicator reading range is from 0 to 500 kPa (5 bar).

When the engine is warmed up to normal operating temperature, the meter reading should not drop more than four times compared to the value typical for higher engine speeds. Otherwise, please contact your Opel service centre for advice.
