Control indicators
Charge control lamp (4)
Lights up when the ignition is turned on, should go out after starting the engine
If it illuminates while driving, stop the vehicle and turn off the engine. The battery is discharged. Check the condition of the alternator drive belt. Broken or slipped belt leads to malfunction of the water pump (and brake vacuum pump on diesel models). If the belt is in order, contact an Opel service center for advice.
Fuel consumption control lamp (5)
Lights up when the arrow of the fuel consumption meter enters the red zone of the indicator scale. It may light up a little earlier when making turns.
Attention! Try not to allow the complete development of all fuel from the fuel tank!
Control lamp of system of antiblocking of brakes (if provided) (6)
Illuminates when the ignition is switched on and stays on for the duration of the ABS self-diagnosis.
If it does not turn off after a few seconds, or lights up while driving, then there is a failure in the system. At the same time, the brake system continues to function properly in normal mode, while during heavy braking the car may go skidding - adjust your driving style accordingly. The ABS system is equipped with a built-in self-diagnosis unit - to read the fault codes of which, contact an Opel service center.
Oil pressure warning lamp (7)
Lights up when the ignition is turned on, should go out when the speed increases after starting the engine.
If it lights up while driving, stop the engine immediately. It is possible that the oil supply for lubricating the internal components of the engine is interrupted, which can lead to jamming of the latter and unexpected blocking of the drive wheels. Depress the clutch pedal, move the manual transmission control lever to neutral, turn off the engine.
Attention! To prevent the steering wheel from locking, do not remove the key from the ignition until the vehicle has come to a complete stop! Check engine oil level. If necessary, contact an Opel Service Center for advice.
Warning lamp of the alarm system (8)
Starts flashing when the alarm is activated
Trailer indicator lamp (with appropriate vehicle equipment) (9)
Starts flashing in sync with trailer direction indicators. Does not function if one or more of the vehicle/trailer turn signal lamps fail.
Control lamp of indexes of the left turn (10)
It starts flashing in sync with the direction indicators of the car when the latter are turned on. An increase in the blinking frequency indicates a failure of the indicator lamp.
Control lamp of indexes of the right turn (11)
It starts flashing in sync with the direction indicators of the car when the latter are turned on. An increase in the blinking frequency indicates a failure of the indicator lamp.
Control lamp of inclusion of a high beam (12)
Lights up when the main beam headlights are switched on, as well as during the flashing of the last ones.
Preheat indicator lamp (diesel models) (13)
Illuminates during operation of the preheating system of the diesel engine.
Control lamp of an electronic control system of the engine (14)
Lights up when the ignition is turned on. On diesel models, it should go out after about 3 seconds after. On petrol models, it remains on until the engine starts, after which it should turn off.
Turning on while the car is moving indicates an electronics failure. Wherein engine management system automatically switches to emergency operation, allowing the vehicle to continue operating despite increased fuel consumption and reduced engine efficiency. Drive the vehicle to an Opel Service Center for inspection and necessary repairs. Brief switching on of the lamp can be ignored.
Try to refrain from using the car until the reasons for the refusal are eliminated engine management systems, as this can lead to failure of the catalytic converter.
Brake warning lamp (15)
Illuminates when the ignition is switched on and the parking brake is engaged.
If it stays on after the parking brake is released, the brake fluid level is low, or (on diesel models) reducing the depth of depression of the vacuum brake booster.
Note. Frequent use of the foot brake on diesel models can lead to a temporary decrease in the depth of depression and the warning lamp lights up (15).
Stop the car carefully, remembering that the braking distance may increase slightly, and the foot brake pedal must be depressed with great effort.
Attention! Further operation of the car with a burning lamp (15) dangerous! Consult an Opel service center.
Control lamp of inclusion of an all-wheel drive mode (16)
Illuminates when the transfer case control lever is moved to the position "4H" or "4L".
Airbag warning lamp (17)
It should flash seven times when the ignition is turned on, then go out. Otherwise, there is a malfunction in the driver/front passenger safety system that will cause the airbag to fail to deploy (ek) safety in case of an accident. Contact an Opel Service Center for advice.
Digital Watch
The digital chronometer continues to function regardless of the position of the ignition switch.
Setting the time is done by pressing the buttons located under the clock display:
- H = Pressing this button quickly switches the clock setting
- M = Pressing this button toggles the minute setting
Tachometer
The tachometer indicator is located on the left side of the instrument cluster in the dashboard. Proper use of tachometer readings helps to significantly reduce fuel consumption. The price of one division of the indicator scale is 500 rpm.
Black area of the scale: Normal operating range of engine speed - try to keep the engine speed in any gear in the middle of the operating range of the scale (approximately between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm) Avoid sudden changes in engine speed.
Red zone of the scale: Overspeed area - prolonged maintenance of the engine speed in this range of the indicator scale is fraught with failure of the power unit.
Speedometer
The speedometer occupies a central position in the instrument cluster and shows the current vehicle speed. Inside the speedometer are indicators for the meter of the total and mileage of the car (odometer) and a trip-specific mileage meter. Resetting the latter is done by pressing the reset button.
Voltmeter
The voltmeter is located in the lower right corner of the field of control indicators of the instrument cluster. The range of readings of the pointer indicator of the voltmeter lies in the range from 8 to 16 V.
When starting the engine, the pointer pointer should not fall below 10 V, while driving the minimum reading should not fall below 12 V. If necessary, contact an Opel service center for advice.
Oil pressure gauge
The dial indicator of the meter is located in the lower right corner of the field of control indicators of the instrument cluster. The indicator reading range is from 0 to 500 kPa (5 bar).
When the engine is warmed up to normal operating temperature, the meter reading should not fall more than four times in relation to the value characteristic of the highest engine speeds. Otherwise, contact an Opel Service Center for advice.
