Ignition coil — common part (Opel Ascona C)

1. The coil is an autotransformer and has 2 windings and a core made of soft iron wire. The resistance of the primary winding is given in the Specifications at the beginning of this chapter (see photo).



2. If you suspect a faulty coil, a specialist should measure its resistance, and if it does not correspond to the nominal value, the coil should be replaced, which is easily done after removing the bolts that secure it.
