Injector system — precautions (Opel Ascona C)

            0

1. As a rule, the injection system rarely fails. To avoid damaging the main electrical equipment of the system, observe the following precautions:
  • a. Do not start the engine without making sure that the battery terminals are securely connected.
  • b. Do not use the charger to jump start the vehicle.
  • c. Do not disconnect the battery while the engine is running.
  • d. Disconnect the battery from the system before charging.
  • d. When the ignition is on, do not disconnect or connect the control unit plug or plugs of other electrical equipment in the system.
  • e. Remove the control unit if the machine is to be exposed to temperatures above 80 degrees C (for example in a paint drying oven).
  • g. Before checking the compression in the cylinders, always disconnect the command relay plug.

2. When working with the fuel system, maintain absolute cleanliness, as dirt entering the fuel lines can cause damage to system components.

3. When searching for wiring defects, do not short-circuit the wires to ground and do not use a test lamp to determine voltage. Use a good multimeter.

4. When working with fuel lines, observe normal safety precautions (see section 1).
