Safety precautions when operating an electronic ignition system (Opel Kadett D)

            0

To prevent injury to persons and/or damage to the electronic ignition system, the following safety precautions must be observed.

Do not touch or remove high-voltage wires while the engine is running.

Disconnect the ignition system wires only when the ignition is off.

Connecting and disconnecting measuring instruments (tachometer, ignition timing device) perform only with the ignition off.

No anti-interference capacitor or lamp must be connected to terminal 1 (-).

(Information taken from the website: OpelBook.ru)

When the engine is running, do not connect measuring instruments or a 12 V stroboscope to terminal 15 of the ignition coil.

After removing the high-voltage wire (terminal 4) from the distributor, always connect it directly to ground using an auxiliary wire of the appropriate cross-section, otherwise the engine cannot be cranked by the starter (to check compression).

Starting from a fast charger is possible for no longer than 1 min. at max 16 V.

It is not allowed to install an ignition coil of another model.

At temperatures above 80°C (for example painting) the engine cannot be started.

Wash the engine with the engine turned off.

When performing electric and spot welding, completely disconnect the battery.

Vehicles with a faulty ignition system may only be towed with the TSZ-H plug disconnected.

Distributor runner 1 kOhm: (designation R1) do not replace with another.

Use only 1 kOhm high-voltage wires and 1 to 5 kOhm spark plug tips.

Persons with heart failure should not work with the electronic system.
