Fan Thermal Switch — Removal and Installation (Opel Ascona C)

            0

1. The fan operation is controlled by a thermal switch located on the rear surface of the radiator in its lower right corner. If the fan does not turn on when it should, you can check the fan circuit by shorting the 2 wires of the thermal switch together and turning on the ignition. If the fan starts working, then the thermal switch is faulty and needs to be replaced.

2. To remove the thermal switch, drain the coolant (see section 3) and disconnect the negative battery cable.

3. Disconnect the wiring from the thermal switch and unscrew it from the radiator (see photo).

4. Installation of the thermal switch is carried out in the reverse order. Before installation, apply a small amount of sealant to the threads of the thermal switch. Fill the system with coolant, start the engine, bring it to normal operating temperature and check the operation of the fan. Check the thermal switch for leaks.
