1. To replace either the ignition switch or the steering lock cylinder, first remove the lower half of the steering column cover by unscrewing and removing the mounting screws.

2. Contact Chapter 4, Section 12, for details on how to remove the ignition switch.

Steering locking cylinder.

3. Disconnect the battery ground cable and, after removing the lower half of the steering column cover, insert the key into the ignition and turn it to position "II".

4. Using a piece of wire or a drill bit (diameter 3mm), press down on the spring holding the cylinder and carefully pull the cylinder out of its housing. It is important that the ignition switch is not removed or disturbed while the locking cylinder is not installed.

5. Before installing the new locking cylinder, insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "P" position. Insert the unit into the steering lock housing and, before removing the key, press it down until the retaining spring is released.
