Power Steering Pump Drive Belt — Tensioning (Opel Ascona C)

1. The belt must be tensioned in the same way as the generator drive belt, as described in Chapter 2.

2. Before making any adjustments, loosen the mounting bolts and the adjusting eye bolt (Figure 8.22).



3. Loosen the lock nuts on the adjusting eye bolt and turn the nuts to tighten the belt. If you are replacing a belt, loosen the entire adjustment completely so that the belt can be removed and the new one placed on the pulley rim without using excessive force.

4. When finished, tighten all bolts and nuts.
