Rear Door (Hatchback) — Removal and Installation (Opel Ascona C)

1. Disconnect the electrical wires from the heated rear window.

2. Disconnect the hose from the rear window washer nozzle.

3. Remove the trunk lid supports.

4. Open the rear door fully and have an assistant support its weight.

5. Disconnect the support pillar from its mounting on the rear door by removing the retaining ring from the ball mount.

6. Remove the hinge pin retaining rings and then pull the pins out towards the center line of the vehicle.

7. Remove the rear door from the vehicle.

8. Reinstallation is carried out by performing the above steps in reverse order, however, before finally tightening the hinge bolts, adjust the position of the rear door so that there is an equal gap between the door and the body on each side, and so that the door closes smoothly and firmly.
