The old camshaft drive gears and the old crankshaft camshaft gear were made by sintering.
Technical features
When replacing a new crankshaft timing gear stamped from a sheet, attention should be paid to the fact that the inscription «FRONT» always pointed to the steering gear housing (which is not necessary for the old, sintered crankshaft timing gear).
New assembly of the camshaft drive gear on the camshaft
With older, sintered camshaft drive gears, the pressure plate is partially embossed with the camshaft drive gears, see illustration: comparison of camshaft drive gear.
This technology has changed with sheet-forged camshaft drive gears.
The pressure plate is no longer caulked, but is installed together with the old fixing bolt and the old phase sensor as one piece.
When installing new camshaft drive gears, stamped from a sheet, pay attention to the installation position. The larger diameter contact surface must face the camshaft drive gear.
Please note that in the same engine, camshaft drive gears and crankshaft timing gears made in the same way should always be installed.

Control and adjustment values
* Correction and adjustment are given according to the tech2 verification manual.
** The pressure difference between the individual cylinders must not exceed 100 kPa.
