Attention! On models of 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8 liters, 1.8 liters without an ABS system, the caliper is non-separable and changes entirely. The disassembly procedure below applies to 1.8L ABS and 2.0L models only.
Removing
1. Raise the front of the car and place it on stands. Remove the wheel
2. To reduce fluid loss, tightly wrap the tank cap by laying a plastic film under it, or pinch the hose with a clamp.
3. Clean the hose fitting and remove the bolt. Remove two gaskets.
4. Remove pads.
5. On 1.8L models with ABS and all 2.0L models, remove the caliper bracket. On other models, the caliper is made integral with the bracket (see photo).
Disassembly
6. Carefully clean the caliper with a dry cloth.
7. Remove the piston by blowing air from the pump into the fitting hole. Take out the cylinder seal (see photo) Remove bushings from caliper.
8. Wash all parts in clean brake fluid or alcohol.
9. All seals and covers are subject to mandatory replacement.
10. Check up a condition of a support, especially carefully examine the piston and an internal surface of the cylinder. If significant wear is found on the cylinder and piston, replace the caliper. Check the condition of the bushings. The bushing should enter the caliper hole by hand with little effort.
11. Before assembly, check the cleanliness of all parts. Dip the cylinder seal in the liquid and install in the cylinder groove. Put the edge of the boot into the piston groove, lubricate the piston and cylinder with brake fluid, install the piston into the cylinder and put the second edge of the boot on the piston. Insert the piston into the cylinder.
12. Install the bushings in the caliper.
13. The support is established upside-down. Replace hose fitting gaskets.
