Rear Crankshaft Oil Seal — Replacement (Opel Vectra A)

1. After removing the engine from the vehicle, remove the flywheel or drive disc (depending on the model), as described in Chapters 25 and 26.

2. Punch or drill a small hole in the center of the seal. Screw in a self-tapping screw and pull the seal out using it. Be careful not to damage the crankshaft sealing surface.

3. Clean the seal seat with a wooden or plastic scraper.

4. Lubricate the sealing lips of the new oil seal, then hammer the seal into place until it is flush with the outside surface of the cylinder block and the rear main bearing cap (see illustration).



5. Install the flywheel or drive disc (depending on the model), as described in Chapters 25 and 26.
