Models with rear drum brakes
Removing
1. Where applicable, remove the wheel cover, then loosen the rear wheel bolts. Block the front wheels, jack up and support the rear of the vehicle on axle stands. Remove the wheel.
2. Remove the brake drum (see chapter 11).
3. Remove the rear wheel hub (Section 10).
4. Remove the brake pads (Chapter 6).
5. Remove the brake slave cylinder as described in Chapter 12.
6. Remove, using a screwdriver as a lever, the lock plate securing the handbrake cable to the drum brake support shield.
7. Turn off four bolts of fastening and take a rotary pin and a basic board of a drum brake.
Installation
8. Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following.
9. Coat the back of the stub axle flange with a small amount of lithium grease.
10. Tighten the bolts of the support plate / stub axle with the tightening torque specified in the Specifications (in three stages).
11. Install the brake slave cylinder as described in Chapter 12.
12. Install the brake pads as described in Chapter 6.
13. Install the rear wheel hub as described in Section 10.
14. Install the brake drum - see Chapter 11.
15. Before installing the wheel and lowering the vehicle to the ground, check and, if necessary, adjust the handbrake as described in Chapter 26.
Models with rear disc brakes (SOHC models)
Removing
16. Proceed as described in points 1-7.
17. Remove the rear wheel hub/disc (Section 10).
18. Remove the hand brake pads (Chapter 7).
19. Turn off four bolts of fastening and remove a rotary pin and a basic board.
Installation
20. Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following.
21. Coat the back of the stub axle flange with a little lithium grease.
22. Tighten the bolts for fastening the support plate / stub axle with a torque specified specifications (in three stages).
23. Install the handbrake shoes as described in Chapter 7.
24. Install the hub disk of the rear wheel (Section 10)
25. Before installing the wheel and lowering the vehicle to the ground, check and, if necessary, adjust the handbrake as described in Chapter 26.
Models with double overhead camshafts (DOHC)
Removing
26. Proceed as described in points 1-7.
27. Remove the brake disc (Chapter 10).
28. Remove the rear wheel hub (Section 10).
29. Remove the hand brake pads (Chapter 7).
30. Using a slotted wrench, unscrew the four mounting bolts and remove the handbrake support shield.
Installation
31. Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following.
32. Install handbrake pads (Chapter 7).
33. Install the rear wheel hub (Section 10).
34. Install the brake disc (Chapter 10).
35. Before installing the wheel and lowering the vehicle to the ground, check and, if necessary, adjust the handbrake as described in Chapter 26.
