Description
1. A vacuum booster installed between the brake pedal and the master cylinder reduces the force required to depress the brake pedal. The unit is powered by vacuum in the intake manifold. When the brake pedal is not depressed, vacuum is generated on both sides of the inner diaphragm. When the pedal is pressed, the air pressure on one side of the diaphragm is compared with atmospheric pressure. Breakdown of the vacuum booster does not affect the operation of the brake system, it just takes more effort to press the pedal.
Checking work
2. The operation of the amplifier can be checked as follows.
3. Relieve the vacuum in the booster (engine off), by pressing the brake pedal several times.
4. Keep the brake pedal depressed and start the engine. The pedal should drop slightly under your foot.
5. If the pedal does not go down, check the booster vacuum hose for leaks.
6. If there are no vacuum leaks, the amplifier itself is damaged.
7. Bulkhead of the amplifier is not possible, if the block is faulty, replace it.
