Parking brake (Opel Frontera B)

Parking brake

To apply the parking brake, move the parking brake lever up as far as it will go. In addition, when parking the vehicle on a slope, it is recommended to move the gearshift lever to the appropriate lower gear for vehicles with a manual transmission or to position P (Park) for vehicles with an automatic transmission.

Warning! Driving with the parking brake on will result in increased and premature wear of the brake shoe linings.

To release the parking brake, lift the lever up slightly, press the button on the end of the lever and lower the lever down to its original position.

Never use the gearshift lever or selector lever instead of the parking brake. Always fully engage the parking brake lever and make sure the vehicle is in P (Park) on automatic transmission models or 1st or reverse on manual transmission models.

Every time you start the engine, check the brake system warning lamp located in the instrument cluster. The lamp lights when the engine is running and the parking brake is applied.

Before driving off, make sure that the parking brake is completely released and the brake system indicator light is off.

If the light does not go out after the parking brake lever is fully returned to its original position, this means there is a malfunction in the brake system.

Stop the vehicle immediately if possible. If this is not possible, drive very carefully to the nearest safe place or the nearest service station.
