1. Apply the parking brake.
Always fully engage the parking brake lever and make sure the vehicle is in P (Park) on automatic transmission models or 1st or reverse on manual transmission models.
Turn off the exterior lights, otherwise the headlight monitoring system will sound an acoustic warning signal when the driver's door is opened.
2. Turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition switch.
3. Turn the steering wheel and lock it.
4. Close all windows and the sunroof, then lock all locks.
