Removal



Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 5 minutes before continuing.

Under the steering column, disconnect the yellow 3-pin electrical connector for the driver's airbag.

Remove the hood release lever, lower instrument panel trim and driver's knee bolster (see the relevant chapter).

Disconnect the connector from the anti-theft alarm control unit.

Remove the steering column (see the relevant chapter).

Remove the cotter pin and take out the pin securing the brake booster pushrod fork to the brake pedal.

Disconnect the connector from the brake light switch (1), remove the clamp (3) and pull out the pin (5).

Unscrew the 4 nuts securing the brake pedal bracket (9) assembly to the engine compartment bulkhead and the 4 bolts securing the bracket to the body beam.

Remove the return spring (6).

Unscrew the nut (7), remove the washer (8) and remove the pedal axle (2).

Remove the brake pedal (4) from the bracket.

Installation



Lubricate the pedal axle (2) and pin (5) with grease.

Install the brake pedal (4) on the bracket (9), insert the rotation axis (2) and secure it with the washer (8) and nut, tightening the nut to a torque of 35 Nm.



Install the return spring (6).

Install the brake pedal assembly with the bracket and secure it with 4 nuts to the engine compartment bulkhead and 4 bolts to the body beam. Tighten the nuts and bolts to 15 Nm.

Install the brake booster pushrod fork onto the brake pedal and secure with a pin and cotter pin.

Install the pin (5) and secure it with the clamp (3), then connect the connector to the brake light switch (1).

Loosen the lock nut (1) and, by rotating the brake booster pusher, adjust the brake pedal installation height, which should be within 173-185 mm. Tighten the lock nut.

Adjust the free travel of the brake pedal, which should be within 6-10 mm.

Install the steering column (see the relevant chapter).

Connect the connector to the anti-theft system control unit.

Install the driver's knee bolster, lower instrument panel trim, and hood release lever (see the relevant chapter).

Connect the 3-pin yellow electrical connector of the driver's airbag using the steering column.

Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
