Lower instrument panel cover and steering column covers (Opel Frontera B)

Removal

Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and wait 30 seconds.

Set the front wheels to the straight-ahead position.

Remove the driver's airbag (1) (see the relevant chapter).



Loosen the steering wheel mounting nut. Place alignment marks on the end of the steering shaft and the steering wheel.



Remove the steering wheel using the KM-210-V puller.

Warning! Do not hit the steering wheel, as this may damage the steering column safety mechanism.

Remove the door sill trim (2) from the left side on a left-hand drive vehicle or from the right side on a right-hand drive vehicle.

Remove the lower trim (1) of the front pillar.

Remove 2 screws and remove the hood release handle from the lower cover (1) of the instrument panel.





Loosen the screws and remove the bottom cover (1) from the instrument panel, then disconnect the connectors.

Remove the fuse box (2) from the support bracket.

Disconnect the connector from the turn signal and hazard warning flasher (3) located on the support bracket.

Remove the driver's knee bolster from the instrument panel.



Remove the screws and steering column covers.

Installation

Install the steering column covers.

Install the driver's knee bolster onto the instrument panel.

Connect the connector to the turn signal and hazard warning flasher (3) located on the support bracket.



Install the fuse box (2) onto the support bracket.

Connect the connector to the bottom cover (1), install the bottom cover on the instrument panel and secure it with the screw.

Install the hood release handle onto the lower cover (1) of the instrument panel.

Install the lower trim (1) of the front pillar.



Install the threshold trim (2).

Install the steering column covers.



Align the previously applied marks and install the steering wheel onto the steering column shaft.



Secure the steering wheel with the nut, tightening it to a torque of 34 Nm.

Install the driver's airbag (1) (see the relevant chapter).



Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
