Bosch Motronic M1.5 system for 2.0 and 2.4 l engines (Opel Frontera A)

The following instructions apply to the 2.0L engine before 1995 and the 2.4L engine.

Removal and installation the ignition distributor

Both engines have a distributor which is installed as shown in the illustration. for 2.0 l engine. The distributor is removed as follows:

1. Loosen the screws and remove the distributor cover along with the cables.

2. Now remove the distributor.

The distributor is installed in the reverse order of removal. Lubricate the cover mounting screws with thread locking agent.

For the 2.4L engine, the distributor is removed and installed as follows:

1. Remove the cover, take out the runner and the condensation water protection.

2. Turn the engine over so that the distributor pointer points to the first cylinder mark on the outer edge of the distributor housing. To check, check that the pointer points to the inspection hole on the flywheel ball.

3. Unscrew the plate fastening and remove the distributor from the distribution mechanism drive cover.



4. When installing, insert the distributor into the distributor housing and check that its pointer points to the first cylinder mark on the outer edge of the distributor housing.

5. Other installation work is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Removal and installation an inductive pulse sensor

1. The sensor is shown in the illustration. (oHC engine). Removal is carried out in the usual manner. For a 2.4L engine, disconnect the plug connection at the heater hose, remembering its location. Loosen the bolt on the oil pump housing and remove the sensor.
