The starter rotates, but the engine does not start/
- The plug under the coil cover came out and the insulating substance flowed out of the coil*
- Poor contact on the wires coming from the ignition switch to the control unit (terminal 2 or 4)
- Poor contact on the wire going from the ignition switch to the terminal (15) ignition coil, or the wire coming from the terminal (1) to the control unit plug or wire "masses" terminals (2).
The engine is running, but "shoots"/
- Faulty spark wires or spark plugs
- Ignition coil is faulty
- Incorrectly adjusted ignition timing
- The control unit is faulty.
*If this happens, both the coil and the control unit must be replaced.
In principle, failure of the entire ignition system is possible while the car is near a strong source of short waves (can only happen with early types of systems that have a gray-black control unit. With later systems, which have a black control unit, this is not possible.
