2. The exhaust system installed on the Opel Ascona model has a robust design and is made using aluminum, which ensures its long service life.
3. For repairing pipes and mufflers (including ends and elbows) Holts Flexiwrap and Holts Gun Gum can be used.
4. The system consists of 3 sections, which can be replaced individually.
5. If necessary, replace the entire system assembly and place the machine in an inspection hole. If there is no hole, you should jack up the car as high as possible and support it with supports.
6. When replacing an entire system, it is easier to cut the connections between the individual sections than to try to separate them.
7. If only one of the sections needs to be replaced and this section has to be cut (connections are not possible), check that a long enough portion of the old pipe is left so that the new section can be installed. If you don't do this, you won't be able to get a tight connection.
8. The gas exhaust system has elastic fastenings. Deformed and damaged fastening elements must be replaced. Always replace clamps (see photo).

9. When installing a new pipe, expansion chamber or muffler, you must first remove any burrs from the coupling joints and apply a little lubricant to them. The clamps are first tightened by hand and are only fully tightened after the system has been checked and adjusted.
10. Check that within the limits of their travel in the elastic fastenings, the system parts do not touch the body or suspension parts.
11. If, before bolting a spring-loaded ball joint, apply a little graphite lubricant to its contact surfaces, this will prevent sticking of the joint surfaces as a result of corrosion (see photo).
