Windshield Wiper Motor and Linkages — Removal and Installation (Opel Ascona C)

1. Remove the windshield wiper arms as described in previous Section.

2. Loosen and remove the nuts from the drive spindles. Mark the sequence of installation of gaskets and washers.

3. Open the hood and remove the water deflector (if installed) — see Figure 12.31.

4. Disconnect the multi-plug electrical wiring from the windshield wiper motor (see photo 36.4).

5. Disconnect the motor ground wire.

6. Loosen the motor mounting screws and remove the entire motor and connecting parts from the vehicle.

7. Disconnect the lever from the motor. When loosening the nut, count the number of turns using an open-end wrench, otherwise you may damage the teeth of the internal drive gear when reinstalling.

8. Disconnect the wiper motor from its support plate.

9. Installation is carried out by performing the above steps in reverse order, do not forget to hold the upper part of the motor casing when tightening the lever nut.
