Note. The test is carried out with the bushings installed and the flywheel removed. The crankshaft is freely installed in the cylinder block.
Measure the axial clearance.
Install a dial indicator against the front contact surface of the crankshaft.
Measure the axial clearance by moving the crankshaft.
Permissible axial clearance: 0.100 to 0.202 mm.
Checking the ovality of the crankshaft
Disconnect the cylinder block base.
Note. The crankshaft is removed and placed freely in the cylinder block
Remove 12 M6 mounting bolts.
Remove 10 M8 mounting bolts.
Place a dial gauge against the center neck.
Measure the ovality by rotating the crankshaft.
Permissible ovality: 0.03 mm.
Apply (grey) silicone sealant.
Note. After application of silicone sealant (gray) the base of the cylinder block must be installed within 10 minutes.
Attention! Do not bead silicone sealant (gray) into grooves or on inner edges.
Attention! Apply a bead of silicone sealant (gray) along the outer edge of the groove on the base of the cylinder block with a thickness of approximately 2 mm.
Attach the base of the cylinder block to (tighten by hand) 22 mounting bolts.
Use new bolts.
Tighten 10 bolts on the inside (M8) torque of 25 Nm and tighten by +60°.
Tighten 12 bolts (M6) outside with a torque of 10 Nm and tighten by +60°.
