Note: The test is carried out with the bearings installed and the flywheel removed. The crankshaft is freely installed in the cylinder block.
Measure the axial clearance.
Place a dial indicator against the front contact surface of the crankshaft.
Measure the axial clearance by moving the crankshaft.
Permissible axial clearance: from 0.100 to 0.202 mm.
Checking the crankshaft ovality

Disconnect the cylinder block base.
Note: The crankshaft has been removed and placed loosely in the cylinder block
Remove 12 M6 mounting bolts.
Remove 10 M8 mounting bolts.
Place a dial indicator opposite the center neck.
Measure the out-of-roundness by rotating the crankshaft.

Permissible ovality: 0.03 mm.
Apply (gray) silicone sealant.
Note: After applying the silicone sealant (gray), the cylinder block base must be installed within 10 minutes.
Caution: Do not apply a bead of silicone sealant (gray) into grooves or on inside edges.
Caution: Apply a bead of silicone sealant (grey) to the outer edge of the groove on the base of the cylinder block, approximately 2 mm thick.
Attach the cylinder block base to (tighten by hand) 22 mounting bolts.
Use new bolts.
Tighten the 10 bolts on the inner part (M8) to 25 Nm and turn further by +60°.
Tighten the 12 bolts (M6) from the outside to a torque of 10 Nm and turn further by +60°.
