Replacing the connecting rod bearing (Opel Corsa C)

Remove the oil pan.

Mark the order of the connecting rod bearing caps.

Mark the order of the connecting rod bearing caps.


Disconnect the connecting rod bearing caps from the connecting rods.

Note: The contact surfaces of the connecting rods and connecting rod bearing caps are individually selected and must not be interchanged or damaged. To avoid damage, do not place the connecting rods and caps on the contact surfaces.


Note: Pay attention to the installation position - the bosses (arrow) on the connecting rod bearing caps must face the gearbox.


Unscrew the 8 mounting bolts.

Clean all components, check and replace if necessary.

Install new connecting rod bearing shells and coat them with engine oil.

Attach the connecting rod bearing caps to the connecting rods.

Tighten the 8 mounting bolts to a torque of 13 Nm and turn further by +60° and +15°.

Use new bolts.

Caution: Always use M6.5 bolts.
