Replacing piston rings (Opel Corsa C)

Remove the piston with the connecting rod.

Use piston ring pliers to remove the piston rings.

Clean the ring grooves.

Clean the piston ring grooves of the rectangular compression ring, tapered compression ring and oil scraper ring using a broken piston ring.

Check the gap.

Install the piston rings into the cylinder.

Check the gap with a feeler gauge.

Check the vertical clearance of the piston ring in the piston ring groove with a feeler gauge.

Rectangular compression ring.

Conical compression ring.

Oil scraper ring.

Install the piston rings.

Install the piston rings into the ring grooves using special pliers.

Install the piston rings into the ring grooves using special pliers.


Install the piston rings into the ring grooves using special pliers.


The "TOP" marking must be on top.

Set piston ring clearances.

First piston ring (right ring) in position 1.



The second piston ring is in position 4.
