Note. Before the test procedure, warm up the engine to operating temperature (oil temperature - 80°C).
Attention! Remember that the cooling system is under pressure.
Open the hood.
Remove the coolant expansion tank cap.
Slowly unscrew the cap to relieve pressure in the system.
Check coolant level. Add coolant up to the COLD mark if necessary.
Install the tester on the coolant expansion tank.
Start the engine.
Check the engine for leaks.
Note. The transparent cylinder of the tester contains a blue reactive liquid that turns yellow in the presence of air containing the slightest trace of carbon monoxide. When fresh air is drawn into the test fluid, it recovers and turns blue again.
Air is bled from the coolant expansion tank with a rubber bulb.
Attention! Coolant must not enter the tester.
If the blue fluid in the main chamber of the tester turns yellow, the cylinder head gasket or cylinder head is leaking.
Tester check
The fluid can be tested by taking gases from the exhaust pipe. In this case, the test liquid should turn yellow.
Turn off the tester and carefully release the pressure.
Install the coolant expansion tank cap.
Close the hood.
