Expansion tank
With a cold engine, the fluid level should be slightly above the mark «Kalt» («cold»).
When the engine is warm, the fluid level in the reservoir rises. Periodically check the return of fluid from the reservoir to the cooling system. If not, check the cooling system. When topping up, use coolant of the same brand as the one filled in, with a freezing point of -30°C.
Note. To avoid burns, never open the cap of the radiator and expansion tank when the engine is hot.
Coolant temperature gauge
The pointer scale has three sectors:
- black sector; normal operating temperature;
- red sector: increased liquid temperature; engine failure is possible. Urgently identify the causes of overheating. Possible reasons;
- low coolant level;
- disconnecting the power wire from the fan motor;
- radiator pollution;
- incorrect ignition setting;
- blue sector: the engine is not warmed up to normal operating temperature or is exposed to excessive cooling.
Electric fan
During work on the engine idling, the electric fan may turn on at any time. Therefore, in order to prevent an accident, in no case should hands or clothing be near the fan blades.
Coolant replacement
The frequency of replacing the coolant; every two years of vehicle operation.
