Expansion tank
When the engine is cold, the fluid level should be slightly above the "Kalt" (cold) mark.
When the engine is warm, the fluid level in the tank rises. Periodically check the return of fluid from the tank to the cooling system. If this does not happen, check the cooling system. When topping up, use a coolant of the same brand as the one poured in, with a freezing point of -30°C.
Note: To avoid burns, never open the radiator cap or expansion tank when the engine is hot.
Coolant temperature gauge
The indicator scale has three sectors:
- black sector; normal operating temperature;
- red sector: increased liquid temperature; engine failure is possible. Urgently identify the causes of overheating. Possible causes;
- low coolant level;
- disconnecting the power wire from the fan motor;
- radiator contamination;
- incorrect ignition setting;
- blue sector: the engine has not warmed up to normal operating temperature or is subject to excessive cooling.
Electric fan
When working on an idling engine, the electric fan may turn on at any time. Therefore, to prevent an accident, hands or clothing should never be near the fan blades.
Replacing the coolant
Coolant Replacement Frequency; every two years of vehicle operation.
