Anti-theft alarm
Attention: When the anti-theft alarm is activated, unlocking the doors from the inside is not possible - never activate the system if there are passengers in the car!
The anti-theft alarm device controls all doors against burglary or unauthorized entry (including tailgate), hood, as well as the internal volume of the cabin, the tilt of the car and the ignition.
An attempt of unauthorized opening of the hood/penetration into the car interior through any of the doors with the anti-theft system activated, as well as an attempt to move the car or move inside the cabin, activates an audible signal, accompanied by flashing direction indicators/headlights/side lights, the duration of which depends on the version of the device. After the control time expires, the system automatically returns to standby mode.
The anti-theft alarm is activated by pressing the lock button on the remote control again no later than 15 seconds after the car is locked. In addition, on models equipped with the Open&Start system, the alarm can be activated by repeatedly touching the sensor window built into the front door handle (see above).
Activation of the device is confirmed by the operation of a single LED lock built into the button of the main switch (see illustration 8.8) - it lights up for about 10 seconds and then goes into flashing mode. If the doors or the hood are not closed tightly, or the anti-theft alarm system is faulty, when the device is activated, the LED starts flashing at a high frequency - it is necessary to check the tightness of the doors / hood, and in case of a system malfunction, contact the Opel service station. The anti-theft alarm device is turned off automatically when the doors are unlocked using the remote control or an electronic key - the LED built into the main switch button should light up and go out after about 1 second. The alarm is also deactivated when the ignition is switched on.
When triggered, the alarm can be forcibly returned to standby mode before the expiration of the set period - just open it using any of the regular methods and lock the car again. The alarm is also disabled when the ignition is turned on.
If the vehicle is unlocked in emergency mode, the horn may also be activated. To disable the anti-theft alarm, you must turn on the ignition using one of the previously described methods (see «Unlocking and locking the doors in emergency mode»). If necessary (for example, if animals must remain in the cabin) the anti-theft alarm can be activated without the function of interior control and vehicle tilt. To do this, before leaving the car, you must press the button (see illustration 8.9) on the overhead console, and then activate the alarm in the normal way.
Double locking system
Attention: When the double locking system is activated, it is not possible to unlock the doors from the inside - never activate the system if there are passengers in the car!
Double locking is activated by pressing the lock button on the remote control again no later than 15 seconds after the car is locked. On models equipped with the Open&Start system, the device can also be activated again within 15 seconds by touching the sensor window built into the front door handle (see above).
The lock is released automatically when the doors are unlocked with the remote control or electronic key. The device also turns off when the ignition is turned on.
Immobilizer
Attention: Attempts to make any changes to the design of the immobilizer are associated with the risk of disrupting the normal functioning of the vehicle's on-board electronic systems and the impossibility of using the latter!
The immobilizer is one of the most effective means of protecting a car from theft. On properly equipped vehicles, the engine can only be started using an individual key equipped with a special microchip/transponder. An attempt to start with a non-standard key leads to blocking the fuel supply to the engine. The device is activated automatically when the mechanical key is removed from the ignition lock, and on models with an electronic key, when the ignition is turned off with the button «Start/Stop» (see Section 21).
To disable the immobilizer, you must insert the appropriate authorized key into the ignition switch. On models equipped with the Open&Start system, the device turns off automatically when the presence is detected «authorized» electronic key inside the car.
Failure to identify the standard key by the system may occur as a result of the presence in the immediate vicinity of it of another key equipped with a microchip / transponder, as well as any metal object - do not keep more than one key on one bundle, use only protective covers made of leather or plastic.
