Switches for selecting the operating mode of interior lighting
Interior lighting is produced when the lamps mounted in the ceiling panels of the interior are activated (see illustrations 17.15, 17.16).
The front lamp is activated when any of the side doors of the vehicle is opened and goes out after a short delay when the door is closed. To activate the luminaire with the doors closed, you must press the switch button. The luminaire is turned off by pressing the same button again.
Rear lights (with appropriate equipment) equipped with 3 position switches. In the middle position of the switches, the lighting is activated automatically when any of the side doors of the car is opened and goes out with a short delay when closing. By pressing the left/right switch, the corresponding lamp will function as an individual reading light (see below).
Switches for directional individual lamps of the front seats
With the appropriate configuration, directional individual lamps for the front seats are mounted in the front interior lighting (see above). Lamps are activated when the ignition is on by pressing the button of the corresponding switch (see illustration 17.15) and provide individual illumination of the driver's and front passenger's seats. When the button is pressed again, the corresponding lamp is deactivated.
Switches for directional individual rear seat lamps
When equipped, rear reading lights (see illustration 17.16) activated separately (right and left) when the ignition is on, when the corresponding switch is moved to the position «I». To deactivate, move the switch to the position «ABOUT»
Battery discharge protection
On eligible models, the interior lights, reading lights, luggage compartment and main glove box lights turn off automatically after 20 minutes with the ignition off, regardless of the switch position.
Attention: Do not leave the lighting devices on for a long time with the engine turned off!
Additional illumination
To ensure the convenience of using some of the controls and equipment of the car in low light conditions, interior lighting is provided.
The illumination of the interior volume of the luggage compartment and the main glove box is activated when the tailgate/glove box lid is opened.
If equipped, the backlight can be activated:
- Dashboards - for a few seconds when unlocking the car;
- License plate - for a few seconds when unlocking the car;
- Internal handles of the front doors - with activated outdoor lighting;
- Makeup mirror in sun visors - when opening the mirror cover;
- Illumination of the cigarette lighter and ashtray - when the ignition is turned on.
Panoramic glass (Astra GTS models)
Some models are equipped with a special panoramic windshield, partially covered by a sliding headlining panel, to increase forward visibility (see illustration 17.17). To move the panel, turn the handle in its central part clockwise and move the panel to the required distance. To reduce the view / close the panoramic glass, you just need to move the headlining panel forward - in the extreme forward position, the lock will work and it will lock.
Note: When moving the panel, the sun visors must be folded up.
Switches for controlling the functioning of the electric drive of the top hatch and sunblind
Attention: In order for the top hatch drive to function properly, never place heavy objects on the hatch, before using the top hatch, do not forget to remove snow, ice, water and sand from its surface!
Attention: When using the roof rack, make sure there is enough space to move the top hatch to avoid damage!
The power sunroof operates only when the ignition is on. To protect against sunlight in the closed position, the top hatch can be covered with a sunblind. The sunroof and sunblind are controlled by rocker switches (see illustration 17.18) built into the ceiling console.
To open the top hatch, it is enough to press the corresponding edge - the electric drive control key switch - with the hatch fully closed, after the first pressing, the rear edge of the hatch will slightly rise, with subsequent pressing, the top hatch will open completely.
Note: When the sunroof is opened, the sunblind opens automatically.
To close the sunroof, you must press the other side - the same key, while for safety reasons the sunroof will stop before reaching 20 cm to the end point, to completely close the sunroof - hold down the key.
Opening/closing of the sunblind is done by pressing the corresponding side of the other button: opening, closing.
Note: For safety reasons, the blind will stop 20 cm short of the end point. To fully close the curtain, hold down the button.
Incomplete opening/closing of the sunroof and curtains is carried out by briefly pressing the corresponding key. For full automatic opening/closing, keep the button pressed.
In the event of an overload in the drive circuits, the power supply will be automatically cut off for a short time. If after a while the drive does not activate, check the appropriate fuses (see chapter 12 and Applications). In the event of failures or malfunctions in the functioning of the electric drive mechanism, it is necessary to synchronize the system as follows: with the ignition on, by pressing the corresponding edge of the key, close the top hatch / curtain and continue to hold the key in the pressed position for at least 10 seconds - the control electrical circuits will be coordinated. If synchronization does not lead to the elimination of failures, contact the Opel campaign service station for help.
