Power window controls
Depending on the configuration, the power windows of the front or all four side doors can be equipped with electric drives. The power windows operate only when the ignition is on.
Note: The power window switches remain powered for approximately 5 minutes after the ignition is turned off or when the key is turned to position 1. The power will automatically turn off when the driver's door is opened.
With the corresponding configuration, the main panel of switches for controlling the electric drive of the door windows is mounted in the armrest of the driver's door (see illustrations 17.19 and 17.20). Each of the main panel switches allows you to activate the power window regulator drive of the corresponding door. To lower the glass of any of the doors, you must press the corresponding lever switch on the main panel. To close the glass, pull the edge of the switch up.
In the armrests of each of the passenger doors of the car, individual switches are built in that control the power window of this door. The power window is controlled in the same way as from the main control panel.
Attention: Before closing the windows, make sure that none of the passengers put their hands out of the window or stick out any objects - it is recommended to explain to all passengers the rules for the safe use of power windows!
Blocking of the electric drive of windows of rear doors
On models equipped with power windows in the rear doors, it is possible to forcibly block the activation of their electric drive from individual door switches.
To set the lock, move the switch forward (see illustration 17.20), located on the main control panel between the lever switches for the power windows of the rear doors until a red field appears in the switch window. To remove the lock, you must return the switch to its original position until a green field appears in the window.
Auto reverse function
If, when moving to the upper position, the control sensor detects an increased resistance to the rise of the glass, due to the ingress of foreign objects between the glass and the upper frame of the driver's door, the glass will immediately lower by a certain amount.
If the glass lifting resistance is due to other causes (e.g. due to frost on the outside of the glass) it is necessary to repeatedly depress the switch of the corresponding door until the glass gradually fully rises.
Power window failures
In the event of an overload in the electric drive circuits due to too frequent repeated action on the switches or for other reasons, the power supply will be automatically cut off for a short time. If after a while the drive does not activate, check the appropriate fuses (see chapter 12).
If malfunctions or malfunctions occur in the operation of the power window control system, it must be synchronized as follows:
- Close all doors and turn on the ignition;
- Fully open all windows;
- Close the window and keep the corresponding door switch depressed for at least 5 more seconds;
- Repeat the procedure for each window.
If synchronization does not lead to the elimination of failures, contact the Opel campaign service station for help.
Power window control from outside
On models equipped with power windows, the windows can be raised / lowered from the outside using the remote control, in addition, with the Open &Start system installed on the car, close the windows by touching the sensor window mounted in the door handle. The power window control function from the outside is discussed in detail in Section 8.
Power Door Mirror Switches
Attention: Checking and adjusting the rear-view mirrors should be carried out before driving - adjusting the mirrors while the car is moving can lead to loss of control over the traffic situation and to an accident!
The exterior mirrors are spherical in design (with appropriate equipment), to expand the field of view.
Attention: Spherical exterior mirrors distort the dimensions and distances to objects. Objects observed through mirrors appear to be more distant than they really are.
The combined door mirror adjustment switch is integrated into the panel on the armrest of the driver's door (see illustration 17.21) if equipped, it is integrated with the main power window switch panel. The choice of the mirror to be adjusted is made using the two buttons of the selector switch - by pressing one of the buttons (left/right) control switches to the corresponding mirror. Changing the angle of the mirror 8 of the horizontal and / or vertical plane is carried out by pressing the corresponding sector of the 4-position switch (see ibid). Activation of the mirror drive becomes possible only when the ignition is on.
Note: Mirrors on models not equipped with electric drive are adjusted manually by pressing on the corresponding edge of the mirror or using the handle located on the inside of the front door.
If necessary, the exterior mirrors can be pressed against the surface of the door glass. Folding and unfolding of external mirrors is made manually.
