Electric window controls

Depending on the configuration, the front or all four side door windows may be equipped with electric drives. The electric drive of the windows only functions when the ignition is on.

Note: Power is supplied to the window control switches for approximately 5 minutes after the ignition is turned off or when the key is turned to position 1. Power will automatically be turned off when the driver's door is opened.

If equipped accordingly, the main control panel for the electric window lifters is mounted in the driver's door armrest (see illustrations 17.19 and 17.20). Each of the main panel switches activates the window regulator drive for the corresponding door. To lower the window of any of the doors, you must press the corresponding lever switch on the main panel. To close the window, pull the edge of the switch up.

The armrests of each passenger door of the car have individual switches that control the window lifter for that door. The window lifter is controlled in the same way as from the main control panel.

Warning: Before closing the windows, make sure that none of the passengers have their hands or objects out of the window - it is recommended to explain to all passengers the rules for the safe use of window lifts!

Locking the electric drive of the rear doors windows

On models equipped with electric rear window lifters, it is possible to forcefully block the activation of their electric drive from individual door switches.

To set the lock, you need to move the switch forward (see illustration 17.20), located on the main control panel between the lever switches of the electric drive of the rear doors until a red field appears in the switch window. To remove the lock, it is necessary to return the switch to its original position until a green field appears in the window.

Auto-reverse function

If, when moving to the upper position, the control sensor detects increased resistance to lifting the glass, caused by foreign objects getting between the glass and the upper frame of the driver's door, the glass will immediately lower by a certain amount.

If the resistance to lifting the glass is caused by other reasons (for example, due to the presence of ice on the outside of the glass) it is necessary to repeatedly press the switch of the corresponding door until the glass gradually rises completely.

Electric window lifter failures

In case of overload in the electric drive circuits due to too frequent repeated action on the switches or for other reasons, the power supply will be automatically interrupted for a short time. If after some time the electric drive does not activate, check the corresponding fuses (see Chapter 12).

If any malfunctions or failures occur in the operation of the electric window lift control system, it must be synchronized as follows:

Close all doors and turn on the ignition;
Open all windows completely;
Close the window and hold the corresponding door switch depressed for at least another 5 seconds;
Repeat the procedure for each window.

If synchronization does not eliminate the problems, contact an Opel service station for assistance.

Control of electric windows from outside

On models equipped with electric windows, the windows can be raised/lowered from the outside using the remote control, in addition, if the Open system is installed on the car&Start closing the windows by touching the sensor window built into the door handle. The function of controlling the electric window lifters from the outside is discussed in detail in Section 8.

Electric door mirror adjustment switches

Attention: Checking and adjusting the rear-view mirrors should be done before starting to drive - adjusting the mirrors while the car is moving can lead to loss of control over the traffic situation and an accident!

The exterior rear view mirrors have a spherical design (with appropriate equipment), allowing you to expand your field of view.

Caution: Spherical exterior rearview mirrors distort the size and distance of objects. Objects viewed through the mirrors appear further away than they actually are.

The combination switch for adjusting the position of the door rear-view mirrors is mounted in the panel on the armrest of the driver's door (see illustration 17.21) when equipped accordingly, it is combined with the main control panel of the electric window lifters. The mirror to be adjusted is selected using two buttons on the selector switch - when one of the buttons is pressed (left/right) control switches to the corresponding mirror. Changing the angle of the mirror 8 horizontal and/or vertical plane is carried out by pressing the corresponding sector of the 4-position switch (see ibid). Activation of the mirror drive is only possible when the ignition is on.

Note: On models not equipped with electric drive, mirrors are adjusted manually by pressing the appropriate edge of the mirror or using the handle located on the inside of the front door.
