Single lock
Note: With the appropriate configuration, a single lock is combined into a single structure with an anti-theft alarm system.
The organization of a single lock system allows you to centrally control access to the car in one of the following ways:
- From the driver's door lock;
- From the main switch of a single lock;
- With remote control (DU);
- From sensors in the handle of the driver's and front passenger's doors (models equipped with Open&Start system).
Before locking the vehicle, make sure that all doors are tightly closed. A special warning lamp built into the instrument cluster warns of loose closing of the doors (see Section 16).
Driver's door lock control
see also Section 3.
On models with a mechanical key, when unlocking / locking the driver's door lock, the lock activators of the locks of all other car doors are automatically activated (including tailgate) and fuel filler caps.
Main switch control
The main single lock switch is located on the console part of the instrument panel, above the central vents to the right of the alarm switch (see illustration 3.1). It is used to lock doors from the inside (at the same time, if the key is in the ignition, all doors must be closed), as well as for simultaneously locking all doors from the outside without using the remote control and a mechanical key (see Section 3).
When the main switch button is pressed, all doors are locked - the LED built into the button should light up.
Note: When the driver's door is open, the single lock does not lock the car.
To unlock the doors, you must press the same button again, or pull the inside handle of any of the doors.
Note: With the double locking system activated (see below) unlocking the doors both from the main switch of the single lock and the internal door handles is not possible.
In the event of an accident of a certain severity, the doors locked from the main switch are unlocked automatically (to help outside). The hazard warning lights are also automatically activated.
Note: The key must be in the ignition switch.
Remote Control
general information
With the help of the remote control, the single lock, the double locking system and the anti-theft alarm device are controlled, and on models equipped with power windows for the doors, also the lowering / raising of the windows. The remote control allows simultaneous unlocking / locking of all doors (including tailgate). It provides guaranteed activation of door locks/anti-theft alarms from a distance of approximately 3 meters (the success of using the remote control from a greater distance is determined by the conditions of the terrain).
Note: When using the remote control, it must be pointed directly at the car.
When the doors are locked with the remote control, all the current settings of the car's electronic systems are stored and activated the next time they are unlocked using the remote control.
Remote control malfunctions can be caused by the following reasons:
- a) Incomplete closing of any of the doors;
- b) The battery level of the remote control battery has dropped;
- c) The distance between the remote control and the car is more than 3 meters;
- d) The presence of interference from extraneous sources of radio signal;
- e) Multiple activation / deactivation of a single lock within a short time - the overload protection system is activated (momentary shutdown of the system);
- f) Repeated attempts to use the remote control outside the range of the emitter - the device is no longer recognized, it is necessary to synchronize (see below).
If the cause of the failure could not be eliminated, the unlocking / locking of the doors can be done in an emergency way (see below) - if necessary, contact the service station of the Opel campaign. Observe the following precautions when handling remote controls:
- Do not allow the remote control to get wet!
- Do not drop or shake the remote!
- Do not expose the remote control to direct sunlight for a long time and do not heat it above 60°C!
- Try not to use the remote control unnecessarily!
Unlocking and locking the doors
The door lock is activated by pressing the door unlock button once - the anti-theft alarm and the double lock system will be turned off at the same time. Before locking the vehicle, make sure all doors are tightly closed. The doors are locked by a single short press on the lock button on the remote control. To activate the dual lock/anti-theft alarm system, press the same button again within 15 seconds of locking the vehicle.
Note: If the ignition is switched on, in order for the double locking systems to be activated when locking, it is necessary to open and close the driver's door 1 time.
The fact of unlocking / locking the lock and disabling / enabling the anti-theft alarm is confirmed by a single / double alarm operation.
Power window control from outside
Power window control (on corresponding models) is carried out by holding down the corresponding button on the remote control. To lower the windows, you must hold the unlock button, to close - the door lock button.
Features of managing a single lock on models with an electronic key (Open&Start system)
The Open&Start system provides a more convenient way to unlock/lock the doors and start the engine without the need for a remote control or a mechanical key. It is enough for the driver to have an electronic key with him, which can be stored, for example, in a jacket pocket. To lock/unlock the vehicle, the smart key must be within the receiving range (about 1) meters from the car (see illustration 8.1). If the electronic key is recognized by the system as «authorized», the car can be unlocked by pulling the door handle by pressing the button under the tailgate catch strip (see illustration 3.4), and open the side doors/tailgate.
To turn on/off the ignition, start/stop the engine, the smart key must be recognized by the system inside the vehicle (see Section 21). Locking sensors are integrated into the outer handles of the front doors. By touching the sensor window once (see illustration 8.2) all car doors are locked (including tailgate). Touching the same window again within 15 seconds will activate the anti-theft/double-lock system.
Attention: Before locking, make sure that all doors of the car are closed and the electronic key is not left in the car, otherwise the lock will not work!
Note: If the ignition is switched on, in order for the double locking systems to be activated when locking, it is necessary to open and close the driver's door 1 time.
Unlocking becomes possible after at least 2 seconds after locking. During this time, you can check if the car is locked by pulling the door handle or by pressing the button under the tailgate grip bar. The Open&Start system does not block the car spontaneously if the electronic key is outside the vehicle reception range (the distance to the car is more than 1 meter). The control of raising the glass outside the car is carried out by holding the finger on the sensor window for a long time.
Attention: To ensure trouble-free operation, the lock sensor windows in the door handles must always be kept clean!
Unlocking / locking the doors, control of the power windows from the outside can be carried out from the remote control built into the electronic key. All operations are carried out in the same way as when using a conventional remote control (see above).
Unlocking and locking the doors in emergency mode
Attention: The use of emergency mode should only be resorted to if it is really necessary - contact an Opel workshop as soon as possible! Replace batteries in a timely manner!
Mechanical key models
In case of failure of the remote control device, it is necessary to unlock the driver's door with the key by turning it counterclockwise in the lock, then return the key to the vertical position and remove it from the lock cylinder. The rest of the doors are unlocked from the main switch of a single lock on the console section of the instrument panel (see above).
Note: Unlocking from the single lock master switch will not occur if the double locking system was activated when the vehicle was locked.
If the anti-theft alarm goes off when unlocking in emergency mode (with appropriate equipment), the ignition must be switched on to deactivate it.
When locking, open the front passenger door and close the driver's door from the inside, then press the main switch button (this will lock all doors) and close the front passenger door.
In the event of a failure of a single lock, the driver's door is unlocked with a key as indicated above, the other side doors are unlocked by pulling the handles on the inside of the doors. The tailgate and fuel filler cap will remain locked.
Note: Unlocking the doors from the inside is not possible if the double locking system was activated when the vehicle was locked.
To lock, insert the key into the hole above the door lock (see illustration 8.3) and, pressing until a noticeable click, turn on the lock, then slam the door. The procedure must be repeated for each door. The driver's door can be locked from the outside with the key.
Note: An unlocked fuel filler cap cannot be locked.
Models with electronic key
In the event of a failure of the Open&Start system or the electronic key, the corresponding warning lamp lights up in the instrument cluster (see Section 16).
For emergency unlocking/locking of the vehicle, there is a special emergency mechanical key stored inside the electronic key housing. To remove the emergency key, press the latch on the back of the key fob and remove the service cover (see illustration 8.4).
The emergency key can only lock/unlock the driver's door. The rest of the doors lock/unlock in the same way as on models with a mechanical key (see above)
If the anti-theft alarm was activated when the vehicle was last locked (on corresponding models), an audible alarm may be activated when unlocking in emergency mode. To turn it off and unlock the steering wheel, you must turn on the ignition, for which bring the electronic key to the designated place (see illustration 8.5) on the steering column cover and press the button «Start/Stop», - if necessary, repeat the operation. For a description of the emergency engine start/shutdown procedure, refer to Section 21.
Replacing the remote control battery
If there is a malfunction in the operation of the remote control / a reduction in the range of its operation, it is urgent to replace the battery.
Note: The need to replace the battery of the electronic key is warned by a corresponding message in the information display field (see Section 17).
Before removing the battery, the folding key must be unfolded. The battery for the fixed bit key is replaced at an Opel service station.
To remove the battery, open the service cover (see illustrations 8.6 and 8.7) - on the electronic key, first press the latch on the back of the key fob and remove the emergency key (see above) - remove the battery and install a replacement one in its place.
Attention: Never use sharp and hard objects to remove the battery - otherwise the internal chrome coating of the remote control may be damaged! When installing, pay attention to the polarity! Close the service cover. After replacing the battery, it is necessary to synchronize the remote control device (see below).
Note: If the battery on a key with a folding bit is replaced in less than 3 minutes, synchronization may not be performed.
Make sure that the remote control is working properly - if necessary, contact the Opel service station specialists for help, you can always purchase replacement batteries there. It is recommended to use CR 2032 batteries.
Synchronization of the remote control
Synchronization of the remote control device should be performed after changing the battery or in case of failure of the remote control due to repeated attempts to use it outside the range of the remote control. On models with a mechanical key, you must unlock the driver's door with the key and insert it into the ignition lock - the remote device will synchronize.
On models equipped with the Open&Start system, the device is synchronized automatically each time any of the buttons on the remote control is pressed.
