Doors (Opel Astra H)

General information and precautions

Warning: When leaving the car, do not forget to remove the key from the ignition, set the parking brake, close all windows and lock the doors! It is also reasonable to lock the doors while driving to prevent them from being accidentally opened, as well as to prevent intruders from entering the car (for example, at traffic light stops). When transporting children in the back seat, turn on the additional door lock from the passenger compartment!

Attention: To prevent engine exhaust gases from entering the vehicle interior, check that the tailgate is closed tightly before starting to drive!

All models covered in this manual are equipped as standard with a single remote control lock that allows you to simultaneously lock or unlock all vehicle doors (see Section 8).

Unlocking and locking doors from the outside using a key

On models with a mechanical key, the driver's door lock is equipped with a cylinder that allows the door to be unlocked and locked from the outside using a key. The driver's door is unlocked by turning the key counterclockwise in the lock cylinder. Opening the driver's door will automatically unlock the other doors (including tailgate).



To lock, make sure all doors are tightly closed and turn the key clockwise in the lock.

Locking doors from outside without using key/remote control

To lock the car from the outside, activate the single lock through the front passenger door using the main switch button (see Section 8), then exit the vehicle and close the door. Note: When the driver's door is open, the single lock is not activated.

Unlocking and locking doors from the inside

Locking the doors from the inside is only possible with the main switch of the single lock (see Section 8) - the driver's door must be tightly closed.

Unlocking and locking doors using the master switch of the single lock

On models with the corresponding configuration, the main switch for the single lock is located on the console section of the instrument panel, to the right above the central air vent (see illustration 3.1).

Additional locking of rear door locks

Warning: Always use the rear door lock when there are children in the rear seats! Inform passengers accordingly!

A special additional lock is used to prevent the rear doors from being accidentally opened from inside the car, which is especially important when there are young children in the car.

The lock is activated by turning a special cylinder mounted in the rear end wall of the door assembly (the cylinder groove must be positioned horizontally) - use a special universal device secured in a clamp on the inside of the fuel filler cap, or any other suitable tool (key, flat-head screwdriver, etc.) (see illustration 3.2). To remove the lock, return the cylinder to its previous position.

Unlocking and locking the tailgate

Unlocking/locking of the tailgate lock is performed using one of the standard methods of activating the single lock (see Section 8).

To open the door, pull it towards you, after pressing the button under the catch bar (see illustration 3.3), and lift it. In the upper position, the door is held by special gas-filled struts.

Attention: Installing additional equipment on the tailgate increases its weight - the door may not stay open!

There is a handle on the inside of the tailgate to close the trunk. The lock snaps into place automatically when the door is slammed (see illustration 3.4).
