The activation of the warning lamp in flashing mode can be caused by the following reasons:
The system does not recognize the smart key in the car:
- incorrect position of the electronic key in the car (do not put the key in the trunk or on the instrument panel directly in front of the information display)
- the electronic key is outside the car
- the presence of external or internal sources of radio interference (radio towers, electronic devices, other electronic keys near the instrument panel, etc.)
Determine and correct the cause of the failure.
- Smart key failure - use a spare smart key (alternatively, starting/stopping the engine and unlocking/locking the vehicle can be carried out in emergency mode - see Sections 8 and 21).
- The battery of the electronic key is discharged. The need for replacement is indicated by the lnSP3 message on the service display (see above) - if there is a control system on the information display screen (see Section 17) a corresponding message is displayed - use a spare key, or perform the necessary procedures in emergency mode.
Activation of the warning lamp in continuous mode indicates an error in the operation of the Open&Start system.
If the warning light comes on permanently immediately after turning on the ignition, it is possible that the steering wheel is still locked - turn the steering wheel several times from side to side and press the button again «Start/Stop».
If the light stays on, try locking and unlocking the car using the remote control or the emergency key (see Section 8) and repeat the procedure for switching on the ignition, or use a spare key - if necessary, contact a service station of the Opel campaign.
Activation of the control lamp while driving indicates a malfunction of the Open &Start system - immediately contact the nearest Opel service station for help.
Attention: Continuous operation of the vehicle with the control lamp activated in a flashing or constant mode can lead to engine failure!
Control lamp of pressure of motive oil. The lamp is activated when the ignition is switched on. Failure of this lamp to turn off after the engine is started, as well as its activation while driving, indicate a dangerous drop in engine oil pressure. If the lamp comes on while the vehicle is in constant or flashing mode, pull off the road to a safe place and stop the engine immediately.
Caution: Operating the vehicle with the warning light on can cause serious damage and engine failure!
Check engine oil level, correct if necessary (see chapter 1). If the control lamp works at a normal oil level, the car should be driven to the service station for more detailed diagnostics and the necessary remedial repairs.
Note: The engine oil pressure warning light is not designed to monitor the oil level in the system. If equipped, another indicator is used to check the oil level (see below) or dipstick (see chapter 1).
Low Brake Fluid/Brake Fault Warning Light/Parking Brake Arming Indicator. When the ignition is switched on, the control lamp lights up continuously when the parking brake is applied, reminding the driver to release it before starting to move. If the warning light stays on after the parking brake is released, or if it comes on while driving, this usually indicates an excessive drop in the brake fluid level - you should stop and check the brake fluid level in the GTZ reservoir, and also carefully inspect the components of the hydraulic circuit of the brake system for leaks. If necessary, eliminate the reasons for the development of leaks and add fresh fluid to the reservoir. If the brake fluid level is correct, have the Opel dealer check the operation of the relevant components of the electrical circuit.
Attention: Under no circumstances should you drive a vehicle with a faulty brake system!
Control lamp of failures of systems of additional safety (SRS).When the ignition is switched on, the control lamp should light up. If the SRS is working, the lamp will go out after about 4 seconds after turning on - if the lamp does not turn off, does not light up at all, or is activated while driving - this may indicate a malfunction in the airbag circuits, or automatic emergency seat belt pretensioners - the car follows at the first the same opportunity to drive to the service station to carry out the necessary diagnostics for the implementation of the appropriate restorative repair.
For more information on how the SRS works, see Section 13.
Road grip deterioration indicator / anti-skid off indicator (ESP).On models equipped with ESP, this indicator lights up when the ignition is turned on. If the anti-skid system is working, the indicator will turn off after a few seconds.
While the vehicle is moving, the indicator is activated in flashing mode when the ESP system is turned on, and thereby warns the driver about the deterioration of the traction properties of the road surface and that the vehicle's wheels are on the verge of slipping, while the vehicle automatically slows down.
Note: During the operation of the ESP, a characteristic noise is heard in the engine compartment.
The failure of the indicator to turn off, as well as its activation while driving in a constant mode, confirms the fact that the anti-skid system is turned off or malfunctions - you can continue the trip, however, the vehicle's directional stability may deteriorate when the properties of the road surface change. At the first opportunity, contact an Opel workshop in the event of a system malfunction.
For more information on how ESP works, see Section 25.
Pilot lamp «Fasten seat belts»reminds the driver to wear a seat belt. The lamp comes on when the ignition is switched on and stays on until the driver's seat belt buckle is engaged.
Note: On some models, the need to fasten seat belts will additionally be reminded by a signal gong.
Control lamp of loose closing of doorsserves to warn about opening / loose closing of one or more car doors, including when the ignition is off.
charge control lamp is activated when the ignition is switched on and should go out a few seconds after the engine is started. Failure of the lamp to turn off, as well as its activation while driving, indicate a malfunction in the charge system - it is necessary to move off the road in a safe place, turn off the engine and check the condition of the multirib belt (see chapter 1).
Attention: Do not continue driving if the belt is loose, damaged or missing - contact your nearest service station!
If the belt is in order, you should drive the car to the service station to identify and eliminate the cause of the failure.
Caution: The water pump is also driven by the multi-ribbed belt on some models, which means that if the belt loosens, there is a risk of engine overheating!
Control lamp of temperature of a cooling liquid. Activation of the lamp while the engine is running warns of a dangerous increase in the temperature of the coolant - immediately stop the car in a safe place and check the coolant level (see chapter 1), make appropriate adjustments (see chapter 1).
Attention: Continued driving with the indicator lamp on can lead to engine failure due to overheating!
Control lamp of failures of electronic system of blocking of start/engine/transmission/presence of water in the fuel filter (diesel models). On eligible models, if the lamp comes on when the engine is running, it indicates a problem with the engine or automatic transmission electronics. The electronic system switches to emergency mode (see Part E) - fuel consumption may increase and the ability to drive a car is limited. In some cases, the malfunction can be eliminated by turning off and restarting the engine. If the warning lamp stays on while the engine is running, contact a workshop for assistance.
Note: A short one-time lamp ignition does not matter.
On diesel models, the activation of the warning light may also indicate the presence of water in the fuel filter, at the same time on the service indication display (see above) a corresponding message appears. Need to remove water from the filter (see chapter 1).
Activation of the control lamp in flashing mode after the ignition is turned on indicates a malfunction in the engine start blocking system, the engine cannot be started. In this case, turn off the ignition and turn it on again. If the lamp continues to flash, you should try to start the engine using the spare key and contact a workshop for help.
Interactive dynamic driving system failure indicator (IDS+) (when driving in SPORT, CDC mode) activated for 10 seconds each time the driver's door is opened. Failure to deactivate or activate while driving indicates a malfunction of the system - contact an Opel workshop as soon as possible to identify and correct the problem.
Engine oil level indicator lights up when the engine oil level drops to the minimum allowable value (except for models with engines Z 14 XEP and Z 20 LEH) - Check the oil level and correct if necessary.
This indicator serves to confirm the activation of outdoor lighting.
Parking assistance warning lamp. Activation of the lamp in flashing mode (flashing) indicates the occurrence of failures in the system due to external interference - contamination of the sensors, external sources of ultrasound (e.g. jackhammers, garbage trucks) and so on. When the cause of the failure is eliminated, the system returns to normal operation - the indicator goes out.
If the indicator is on constantly, this indicates a system malfunction - contact an Opel service station.
