Note: To maintain vehicle stability and handling characteristics, rear shock absorbers should be replaced in pairs. Different types of shock absorbers are designed for different models - only shock absorbers with the appropriate specifications should be used.
1. Support the front wheels with wheel chocks, jack up the rear of the vehicle and support it on jack stands. Remove the corresponding rear wheel.
2. On models equipped with automatic ride height control, disconnect the electrical wiring from the shock absorber.
3. Support the appropriate hub assembly holder with a trolley jack and lift it up slightly. Remove the bottom fixing bolt (see resist. illustration) and put on the shock absorber from the holder of the hub assembly.
8.3 Raise the rear wheel hub assembly holder with a jack (2) and remove the bottom bolt (3) shock absorber mounts (1)
4. Turn out the top bolt Togh (see resist. illustration) fastening the shock absorber to the bottom, remove the shock absorber and remove it from the rear wheel well.
8.4 Top bolt Tox (4) shock absorber mounts (1)
5. Clamp the lower shock absorber support bracket in a soft-jawed vise and swing the stem from lock to lock several times (see resist. illustration). Any irregularities in the smoothness of the stroke of the rod indicate the need to replace both shock absorbers.
8.5 Checking the function of the shock absorber (for convenience, clamp the lower support bracket in a vise with soft jaws)
6. Assess the degree of wear of the rubber-metal bushings of the shock absorber, if necessary, replace both shock absorbers.
7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, with the only difference being that the lower shock absorber mounting bolt is attached first, and then the upper one. Make sure all fasteners are tightened to the correct torque.
8. Similarly replace the second shock-absorber.
